One guy sent me about 5 minutes worth of hate tells because I used bombard to sniff him out of hiding.

I didn't have bombard or arrow spray slotted. When I mentioned that he went on about how AD was screwing the campaign over by taking his factions keeps IIRC we only had the emp keeps at that time.


Another guy [snip] about the skills I used to kill him. If I was a good player with standard skills, he would have won the fight I mean he wasn't wrong, I suck. But if I suck and use skills that suck and killed him... He can't be all that great either.

Since I'm really not a PvPer, just once, Well, even that wasn't a "hate-message". A well-known player asked me about one skill I was using as a templar, what he hadn't met earlier. And was joking about that, and somehow got his admiration. Then he slain me a few more times

thought I was playing fairly competitively, but, maybe not...play both small scale and zergs...

not sure what my kill count is exactly (on ps4), but have to imagine i'm up over 10k by now (there is one achievement: race slayer, that gives you a bit of an idea, across 10 characters I have most races maxed to 100)...

do emotes over dead folks bodies all the time...

don't join groups and rarely participate in zone chat...

sometimes I wonder it these hate messages have a little more to do with stuff other than basic gameplay...

I'm not good enough at PvP to get hate tells; the closest I remember coming was during one of the double AP events, wherein one of the people who'd taken a solid five minutes to find my very obvious hiding spot (on my Sorceress, mind!) tried to tell me that if I wanted to do a healer I should play a Templar. XD

And I guess there was one other time; someone complained I'd dropped the ram I was on in an inconvenient place...and it wasn't my ram in the first place.

Yep a bunch, that was when Cyrodiil was first introduced. I'd just get hate/smack talk pms, but I don't see it as much anymore.

Why I received hate PMs, I'll never know.

Yep, I had some hate mails. And more recently I get more hate mails when i’m playing a magica warden. And according this particular person i’m a ‘noob chiken’. Whatever this might be.

People accused me of cheating cause I use shifting standard and spam it as they move in bg. They think is some kind of ulti gen cheat cause i can move it indefinitely lmao:) funny thing was they were 690 cp lol they should know better

Besides that when some send me hate mail ill ask them to meet for a duell, then most at the time they get exposed or when they win or are decent gamers we usually become friends afterwards and keep dueling for fun:)

I got an angry pm once for javelining from up on the inner keep everytime someone tried to resurrect a certain person on the ground. Interrupted them so many times.

Frequently enough that it has lead to me setting myself as offline in Cyrodiil
or alternatively setting my chat tab up to have no whispers present

As for why, no clear idea what prompts someone to do it
am not particularly skilled, but have gotten PM'd in a variety of scenarios
people complaining about me using particular skills,
people complaining about me specifically targeting them(while playing an anti-gank build protecting the rear of siege units...)
people complaining about me using Detection potions/them not knowing Detection potions are a thing lol

Maybe the question to inquire about
is whether people have sent hate pms in Cyrodiil
and why they do it
perhaps you will get a response,
perhaps people who send whispers do not feel they come across as enraged as they do when swearing and typing all in caps

Started occuring mostly after proc sets metas. Before it was someone's rage after getting outplayed too bad. Game was in general way more friendly.

I have a screenshot from long ago of my fave, a very good (now former) player I greatly admired messaged me "i hate you. I really hate you". Might be my proudest ESO moment.

I've gotten compliments for being a good healer. Other times, creepy or trolly nonsense from attention seekers that I just ignore. Nothing really antagonistic so far, although I have been stalked in Cyro by players I've killed so I know I've gotten on someone bad side a few times.

Recently, someone called me a 10 level when I killed him. I think it's because I used finisher too early which don't actually deal real dmg before enemy is 25% hp, but he started giving me advices and I can respect that. Other time some tank called me poor zergling gankblade when I was trying to escape from mix of yellows and blues chasing me. I always respect my enemy, but sometimes people are taking this game too serious and giving me a bit of laugh.
