ESO on SWITCH, a possibility?

What do you guys think? Given the Switch’s reasonable hardware. Could we have a switch version? Obviously it’d be dulled down compared to the PC & Consoles, but in portable mode, it’d be 720p anyway.

reasonable? I guess you're not really an expert on computers.
This game is already badly optimized for what it is,
Switch has totally inferior hardware compared to ps4 and xbox, and those consoles also have very weak hardware power in the first place.

Edit: The key here is CPU power and how the game utilizes it, and as far as I know, (seriously, correct me if Im wrong) switch has an ARM cpu which is really, really and I mean really weak. But then again, if it has better single core performance than the terribad jaguar cpu ps4/xbox have, in that case switch might really run ESO in a lower resolution.

    Thanks for the reply.

In addition, ESO is a massive game memory wise, and with the Switch’s 30GB capacity, it’d be impossible to play without the use of a memory card. It’d be more hassle than it’s worth, but as I said, it was just a query.

Doubt it. The Switch is underpowered, the equivalent of a low end PC, and can barely manage Skyrim.

I disagree about barely handling Skyrim, I think it does a great job for a handheld console.

Well , Would be cool to play eso anywhere I want with a switch, but then again, It requires them to sit and redesign/downgrade the entire game. They aren't even able to fix the lag in cyrodiil. (and even if they were able, is it even worth the money spent, that is probably the reason they don't fix cyrodiil right now, not enough interest in PvP)

bad hardware isnt a problem if the devs are capable of doing it, doom has a switch port that runs fine.
And that game has very nice graphics while running at a perfectly high fps. that game is the prime example of what a team of good devs can achieve.

But here on eso , in cyrodiil Im looking at 25-30 fps, at medium settings, with a gtx 1070 and an i5 6600k, it tells me something about the overall performance of the game.

For a handheld console. Compared to a PC, current consoles, or even the consoles last gen, its not impressive in the slightest. Call it what it is: Skyrim Lite.

You do realize that that's not how the switch works with every game and the Joycons can be used as actual normal controllers?

There's even a Switch Pro controller that's basically Nintendo's version of the Elite and/or DS4.

I'm sure many people would love that. unfortunately the switch isn't cut out for ESO. Many people already have trouble running it and on the consoles it's a fairly ugly game for a reason.
I play this game a little bit I guess

Is the issue the graphical capabilities of the system or just the sheer size of it or something else? Graphically, you can bump it down if necessary and that solves that issue. No game on switch is going to be as pretty as a PC counterpart anyway. Is a wireless connection too iffy to maintain the sort of server connection necessary for basic functionality? Certainly it could cause issues in Cyrodiil, but we have that already.

Basically, what is the one biggest issue holding this back?

The issue with bumping it down is they would have to lower the texture resolution to ridiculous levels. It will look like play-doh. Not worth it.

The Switch is a get-up-and-go console. Let me ask you this; How do or would you play ESO on the go? Such as in a car traveling without any wifi?

You don't. ESO always needs a constant internet connection. Switch simply cannot do that. In fact, Switch does not even have a EtherNet Port on it. Just a WiFi card that's it.

If you're curious about the specs Nintendo has them up on their website here.
I might need to buy a 2T card for mine, I didn't know they supported up to that much

ESO should be just one giant server in a specific language. so for the English server for example it would look like this....
the North America and European servers merged, and PS4, XBOX One, PC, and Switch(if it ever becomes available on switch) should all be one mega server.

Absolutely not. in the US, I already have issues with ping on the NA server. Could you imagine people from Europe trying to play on a server in Dallas? No.

Switch has plenty of online games. Yes, I do agree that it is a mobile system and that an MMO in general may not be ideal, but it is technically still possible to do this. Fortnite works as a multiplayer Switch game and I'm sure there are many others that are primarily online games.

So, speaking of Online Games. Another thing to keep in mind that, Nintendo is also launching it's paid online service this September.

I'm not disagreeing with being able to play it, as like a home only console. Which you can still theoretically do. However, my past experiences playing online multiplayer on Wii/Wii U free Nintendo Network has not been the best experience, IMO. Hoping their paid service will help curve my low expectations.

that would just cause more performance problems on-top of the fact that pc, xbox and ps4 go through different online servers before connecting to ESO, use totally different gamer profile and transaction systems, keeping them separate makes sense.

on the language side, there are multiple languages spoken in NA and EU countries not just English.
