Playing with high ping because of distance

Hi!

This isn't a QQ thread. I just want to accept reality about playing from a far away country. I'm from Argentina, and my regular ping is around 250, which of course makes pvp a bit harder, but not impossible. I manage myself and have an awesome time playing ESO, but still I need to know something.

I keep watching videos on youtube from pvp players who can weave like gods, and as much as I try, I can't weave THAT good. I do weave the basic LA/skill, skill/block, LA/skill/roll. But I never manage to do it at the speed they do.
Is this do to the ping? or is it me? Do I need to train harder? I want to know my limits.

Thanks!

With high ping weaving gets harder and the animation feels clunky. Also moast 1vX videos are made in campains with low pop and there is nomaly a much better performance to an poplocked campain. The same thing is in pve.
PVP Saint-Bud magicka Templar: AR 49
PVE Lord Victarion mDK : dro'm-Athra-Destroyer pre Morrowind retired for crafting
PVE Ramsay-Bolton magicka NB: Voice of Reason Clockwork City Patch retired
VAA hm/ VHRC hm/ VSO hm/ VMOL hm/ VHOF hm/ VAS hm clear

Stop playing PVE because its boring, content not disigned for melee players and class balance and sustain is ***

Ok. So I just have to accept I will never be top in pvp while having this ping. If anyone from Argentina/Chile can tell me his ping, please let me know. And if you found out ways of reducing it, more than welcome =D

I live literally 2 hours away from the NA server. My ping is still 150-200ms most times, with spikes a lot too. The server latencies are just crap for everyone.

anything above 100 ping and you're not going to beat those godmode players.
Having low ping is a HUGE advantage but It doesnt mean you can't PvP.
I'm sorry OP, with 250 ping you wont be a top tier PvP player, but you can play a debuffer or healer type of build and be very successfull with that.

PS: If you have 200-250 ping on vivec primetime, that is server lag, dont worry about that. And I know how it feels, Its sooo bad that I drop dizzy swing completely because Its unusable at that point.
If you have 250 ping as your lowest, then Its your distance.

Yes, 250 is at my lowest. I still manage to have a great time.

I know some really good or/and even great players, both PvE and PvP wise, running 200-300 pings stably. So it's not impossible apparently. But I do know some of the more famous names run stable <100 ping, and I feel I for one simply cannot react as fast as people running <100 ping, I remember dueling another sorc once and they were suggesting I eat Crystal Frags instead of blocking/dodging so I could insta break free and get cc immunity(back when it did cc you), and that's what they did, they broke free pretty much before I even saw them get cc'd and then abused that immunity(and I'm pretty sure they weren't cheating), but I simply couldn't do that. No matter how fast I'd press "break free", there'd always pass some time between the CC registering and the breakfree registering, often enough to cost me a nice chunk of health. It was actually amazing how noticeable the difference seemed...they had like 100 ping. I had like 270 :D

Tl;dr - you can be good and even very good, even in 1vX or whatever, but I doubt you can be the best and you'll have to put much more effort in being "very good" than someone with 80 ping would.

I think any play style (and melee burst builds especially) that allows those twitch muscles and reactions to fire off definitely benefits a lower ping player. Not much you can do about that unless you keep adding health and mitigation until your a tank with or without a leap to save you.

Yesterday I did a vFG I with 350+ spikes up to 600+, and I keep dying by red circle last boss. Cannot roll out fast enough. Sometime on my screen I clearly rolled out of red zone, but I still die because on server side, I'm still in. Doing vMA, skills take age to pop, or not at all, because with high ping and spike usually packet loss is also high.

I try not to do dungeons during my rush hour and wait till a more stable time, but sometime those are the only time I can play.

I'm not from Argentina/Chile. But I'm from United States. My ping for both PS4 EU and PS4 NA (When I do go NA at times) are the same 200-350 ping. Basically yes, we both have to accept we will never be top/OP. Your damage base, least I think so. I'm a terrible PvP Healer Templar. We can't be good, due to our ping.

Nor could I get good sets, locked in dungeons/Trials. Almost 2+ yrs I have always played as a healer (PS4 EU) despite my ping, I won't give up. That is until ZOS takes away PvP, then I will. But for now, I won't give up being a Healer. Just dislike the freezing with 12 people in keep battles though. But if your on PC, than your more lucky. Way more so, than us Console. You PC have valuable tools, to lower ping. I would recommend them to try.

It's never rewarding. Even if a skill went out of time when it shouldn't, playing with high ping/bad connections sucks, no matter the "reward".

Maybe for this game. The Battlefield franchise is pretty much ruined due to out of region players. They have made zero effort to fix.

I get it, no servers close by. But still, you lagging all over the place impacts others as well, especially in the PvP environment.

Does depend on the game for sure, (I think fortnite is another) in some its the lag'rs are out of sync anyone not lagging unable to land shots, in most others the player with the slow connection is rubber banding and the like and reacting to historical events including hit box locations.
