Fishing - a chance to update?

I know a lot of people enjoy the fishing aspect of ESO for many different reasons, whether relaxation, socializing, or farming those damn golden eggs. It was nice to see a small change to the fishing system with Homestead, with the addition of catching housing items. But to me, fishing still seems a bit lacking and could be updated a bit. I was curious if you all have had any ideas on potential ways to upgrade the fishing system within reason. I've seen some complex fishing systems in other mmos, but not everything may be practical.

For me, I thought it would be cool to introduce a creel, that would take up 1 slot in your inventory and would be a storage container for fish. Then, you could introduce sizes or weights for fish, something that typically matters when catching a fish. Based on size or weight, you would have a higher probability of getting roe, or more fish fillets, or something else that I can't think of right now. Of course, introduction of different sizes or weights would complicate fish in an inventory, thus the introduction of the creel, which could be sold by a vendor for a nice sack of gold (not sure what a price would be right now). Sizes or weight wouldn't have to be too complex, I'm not suggesting a salmon of 11lb 2ounces and a salmon of 11lb 3.5 ounces, but some sort of size class would be kinda cool.

Having different size fish would allow for all sorts of social "fishing tournaments" to see who can bring in the biggest of any given species, who can amass the heaviest total weight in a 15-minute fish-off, etc.

Something trivial, but could still add some spice to an otherwise monotonous feature of the game.

Exactly what I was thinking. I've played other games where a feature like this has allowed for fishing tournaments in guilds and its always been a hit.

So the way to improve fishing is to introduce more inventory management? I would vote no.

Make it take less time of doing nothing. Twenty to thirty seconds of waiting per cast is too long. Five to ten seconds per cast is long enough.

Introduce epic and even legendary fish to every zone. Make them furnishings that are mounted when you use them to decorate.

Give me something else to do with thousands of fish filets I have.

Open fishing would be cool instead of nodes but I'm sure that would be a huge change to code

I'd like to see some skill to the casting instead of it always hitting the node. Right now, casting is like using an attack skill; once you're facing the target, the hit is automatic. Take that away and casting feels less automatic and more free-style. Cast didn't land in the node? Re-position and recast.

The only reason I suggest this is because, right now, I literally can exhaust a fishing node with my eyes closed and that's boring. I want a reason to keep my eyes open and feel some sort of accomplishment for hitting the node with the cast.

I would like to see fishing expanded. Some new rewards for master angler would be cool. Maybe like when you go into your inventory other players would see you rummaging in a tackle box. Or maybe an outfit with a vest and hat and lures all over em. And some big rubber boots too.

Add more stuff to the gunny sacks. More furnishings, some consumables, maybe even fishing hat or memento, or rarely a fishing only non combat pet.

i'm sure i've seen this before from players, so i don't claim it as my own idea, but it wasn't mentioned in this thread - a quest line would be nice...something simple tho' to go along with the ease and relaxation of fishing itself...

I want to be able to craft lures to target specific trophy fish, so I can cut down on pulling up three of Rare Fish #1 and zero of Rare Fish #2 which I still need for that zone.
