Assigning Potions to the Hot Key on the Game Pad

I play the game on xbox with the XB controller and have been able to assign my healing potions to ability bar which I can only have 1 active at a time.
So I can open the hot key wheel and assign stamina and magica potions to use but I am not able to use them in battle because the others are not displayed and the buttons on the controller pad do not my character drink them. The only one he can drink is the healing potion so is their a way to map and use them also?

If you hold down the hotkey direction on the d-pad it will bring up the selection wheel. You can then select a different potion/emote/whatever to trigger. The most recently selected item will now be queued to be instantly applied if you tap the hotkey again. Just hold to re-select another. Cumbersome - yes, but it does allow you to assign various items without needing to revisit your inventory menu each time.

I frequently find that hard to pull off mid battle. I would love to have at least one other potion available.

Oh I fully agree. I stated it was a cumbersome method. OP just wanted to know if it was possible, so I gave him the only option available to console users.

Outside of Xbox adding more buttons to their controllers, I don't see anyway ZoS can get around this though. I use a wireless keyboard linked to my xbox for text chatting, so I wonder if there might be some way for ZoS to allow us to bind the function keys of a keyboard to the game ui. You'd have to take a hand off the controller, but it would still be quicker than the current method.

You can do it, just takes practice and timing like everything else in the game.

Thanks everyone for the replies, yes I very much would like to have ZoS revisit this for those like myself who only use the console controller and somehow make it easier to use all 3 potions as needed.

Hope that the developers will see this.

I have been asking for some dev love on the gamepad/controller interface since 2015... aaaaaand still no. I really hope now that ESO is apparently going to stick around that the entire UI is revisited, or at the very least, making the controller UI equal to the keyboard ui. Hey, PC can show all of our fav addons which would be great if they were real features...

Hope others who also want this will reply and maybe it will get the attention of the developers for them to make some much needed changes.

How exactly do you guys think they are going to assign extra keys to the controller when there's literally not a single button that isn't already used for something?

I'm thinking if you go to use a potion it would pop up a small option to pick which potion to use, selectable by a quick tap of other buttons. its two quick key taps instead of holding down the button selecting which one you want and then having to tap the button again.
