I wasn't even expecting it but somehow managed to get me a combination of 5-set piece on Defiler + Warrior Poet (2-part Defiler armour/4-part warrior poet + 3-part definer jewelry + 2-part Warrior Poet Weapons (sword + axe) and this build is looking rather good for a newbie noob such as myself. LOL

I am only level 37 but going to definitely look into this set at cap - thoughts?

Defiler:

(2 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage

(3 items) Adds 833 Weapon Critical

(4 items) Adds 833 Weapon Critical

(5 items) When you deal Critical Damage, you have an [8%] chance to summon a Hunger that spews poison to all enemies in front of it, dealing [9999] Poison Damage and stunning enemies hit for 5 seconds. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds.

Warrior-Poet:

(2 items) Adds 1206 Max Health

(3 items) Adds 2975 Spell Resistance

(4 items) Adds 2975 Physical Resistance

(5 items) Gain Minor Toughness at all times, increasing your Max Health by 10%.

(5 items) Adds 1206 Max Health

Nice. Just to mention this in case you don't know it yet ... if you make sure that at least 5 pieces of your armor are "medium," then you get extra bonuses from having 5 pieces of medium armor, once you unlock those passives in the medium armor skill line. It's definitely worth it to do that.

    Yeah it seems to.

If I'm fighting a single target I notice an immediate drop in their health bar and stun.
If there is more than two, it seems to avoid the one I am fighting with and goes for another which is kind of neat.

Hungers can be pretty easy to kill so be careful, they can't take a hit.

Yeah they barf-up-a-lung and then drop dead lol. :/

But, I find myself eagerly awaiting the barf-fly approach :)

I've never found them to be any good tbh, even recently I still find it to be a rubbish 5th piece part effect. If anything I probably would work with 4 piece maybe

I appreciate your advice - I'm really new to the game and pretty much know nothing. Always listening with an open mind.

Yeah I can say for pvp it is not imo a good set to run with as people constantly kill them too quickly. Always get a feel for things and test around a lot : 3 never know what you might find that helps give you the edge you need.

I guess the warrior poet is good for survivability, but its not nearly the best build for dps.

Pretty sure you'd get better millage from Plague Doctor, if you're already going that route. But, yeah, Warrior Poet is a tank set, Defiler is DPS.

I could see a WP+PD build. For DPS, I'd actually point to Hunding's Rage + Night Mother's Gaze (3-4pc), with Agility Jewelry for a starter DPS, rather than messing around with Defiler.

they're hilarious and the defiler set is a lot of fun, but the hunger needs to be far more effective.

warrior poet is decent tank set and not too hard to obtain.

good advice above from @starkerealm regarding set choices for a place to begin.
