Stamplars, state your case - 2H/Bow vs DW/2H

I feel like my Stamplar performs better with 2H/Bow, but it seems like most prefer DW/2H. I'm curious what folks here pick and why.

Make your pick and state your case as to why it's your preference.

Same for me. The mobility Bow offers when combined with medium armor (I'm 5m/2h) is so helpful, especially in BGs where so many games types emphasize moving around the map.

Stamplar is a class that is largely based around one skill offensively: biting jabs. And it’s a skill like no other. A single target and AoE channel of sheer savagery. It is one of the strongest abilities in the game and definitely my favorite skill. Therefore, I like to build my stamplar around amplifying that skill as much as possible. Dual wield passives and bleeds bolster the jabs best of any weapon imo. Not only will the dot damage add pressure, but it will also help fill up that power of the light quicker. And on a personal note, it just feels more natural and visually appealing to me.

Secondly, stamplar’s glaring weakness is it’s awful sustain- worst of any class in the game. You can offset this with clockwork execution of heavy attacks, something dual wield is more conducive of.

Finally, set bonuses. That one extra slot from the off hand weapon opens up a world of posssibility for builds. And there are quite a few powerful sets in the game right now. Pulling off 5:5:2 is much more limited in scope with a 2h weapon than with dual wield.

I like the bleed from dual wield (rending slashes). Adds a lot of pressure, more so than poison injection imo.

I also like deadly cloak. It's an amazing defensive ability. It reduces aoe damage considerably. And the additional dot provides more pressure.

    Also, all of this...

The only downside is I have to run expensive potions for major expedition.

Ive played a lot of 1h/s main bar stamplar lately, while the raw stats arent as good as dual wield, the skills really help shoring up stamplars weaknesses.
A good stun with Major defile(imho better than Javelin as reverb isnt a knockback).
Easy and cheap source of Major fracture, actually ransack isnt a half bad spammable if you want to use it instead of jabs, especially with bash weawing.
If you want you can use low slash for a nasty snare to help land your jabs.
Also imho 1h/s is the best if you want to use Cresent Sweep as your main ult.
Also liking How much i can block even in medium armor.
Btw as far is damage is concerned, ive hit 10k++ Cresents on heavy armor targets with my setup

Dual wield is very strong for high pressure setup and is prob one of the best specs to counter permablockers.
2h and bow i dunno, without a decent stun chances are most of the time youll be waiting for db to.come up to secure a kill.

i prefer 2h and resto, resto ult is great cluch ult, prob the best and major force and major protection are op. u can have 38% dmg mitigation and 25% increased crit dmg with it up due to passives and skills ect which is lethal imo but if im not 2h and resto i run s/b and 2h because reverb and heroic are just so strong

Ive tried 2h resto once for giggles in a death match, with bloodspawn and ww hide, went 21 0, it was really funny lol.
And ive been seeing a lot more stamplars running reverb than ever before. Im sure it has nothing to do with befoul being buffed.

Pots. You can run 2h back bar of you just want ravager on front. I haven't farmed the gear for that with my stamplar.

I have all sorts of setups with the stamplar including but not limited to DW/2h-2h/bow and dw/resto

I much prefer the DW/2h playstyle, I feel it compliments the strengths of the Templar class like arya had previously mentioned.

I agree, I ran into a Stamplar running this set up. It's extremely lethal if they get in close.

I've been running 2h and s/b for a few weeks now. My build isn't the best but I do have ravager on. I would say the major problem with s/b is that you are pretty much forced to run expedition pots to kite your opponents. Maybe this is a L2p issue but It's just my take on the subject.

After reading some of these other replies on this thread I think I may try DW and 2H again, or maybe even switch to reverb from dizzying swing. who knows.

It's best when some players keep their opinions to themselves, I enjoy when players know what they are talking about. It's just annoying to see others who know nothing try and speak as if they know the class, my suggestion stay on the Nightblade.

2h and s/b. either 2h front or s/b front depending on build

2h is needed for major dmg buff and a heal. as vigor and rally are your only heals you cant really run forward momentum with out giving up too much. ALso medium armour cost reduction and sustain helps stamplar more than other class classes imo.

s/b gives so much utility, mitigation via block and the ult, minor maim, minor heroisim, major armour debuffs which if u stack with POL and minor and a crusher enchant you can get almost 10k penetration with out running penetration cp or a penetrations et. also the reflect helps mitigate alot of dmg where magplars can use the reflect put on the enemy we can put one on our selves. the morph of the heal is also nice in 1vX and i jsut wish 1 morph did physical and 1 morph did magickal dmg but nvm.

Imho 2h has way better passives than DW (which mostly work on DW skills). But the extra slot is very appealing. Also it has to do with your build, for exaple a build that relies mostly on sustained dmg, should go on DW, while a bursty one should aim for 2H
