report cheating

unfortunately, in the last days i found myself wasting more time reporting cheaters on this game than playing it. somehow the "report cheating" is now a "customer service ticket" and i have my support account filled with pages and pages of tickets from those reports.

the weird thing is that all of those tickets are immediately marked as "solved". since i have so many of them now, and it would be a pain to reopen all, i decided to update only one of those tickets keeping the subject to all the others. i did that 3 times in the last 3 days and they always closed again the ticket without any reply at all.

in the usual "copy paste" message that they sent me on the report, they suggest me that «by right-clicking on a player's name and choosing "Ignore"»

i wonder how the cheating problems in the game can be solved by ignoring the cheaters? would they stop affecting the markets or do they completely disappear from the instances that i'm playing? --- how dumb is this suggestion? i really can't even believe it.

i'm feeling cheated by zos itself now. i'm going to ignore the "report cheating" button. zos is doing a great job protecting the cheaters.

this you mention here, along with the fact that when people reported cheaters previously it wasn't the cheater that got banned but instead, the person who reported cheaters was banned is the reason i refuse to report people when i see them cheating.
    this is eso mechanics 101.

yes. because the last time i dedicated some time to report cheaters it wasn't a ticket yet, so, i wasn't able to track the process. now it is a ticket, and i was able to know, only now, that those reports are immediately considered as solved.

They probably have you on a spam filter since most the people you report probably are not cheating, unless everyone was just flying around cyrodiil again.

Post an image of a cheater on the forums. Say an image of a death recap showing skills from multiple different classes emanating from the same player. See who gets banned.

Hear no cheaters, speak no cheaters, see know cheaters. (do plenty of cheating)
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

The ignore is important. It is for you. When they ban players, said players get removed from your ignore list(probably friends list too). So when you ignore them you can occasionally check to see if they are still playing or have been removed and thus banned.

i never read any nor saw any emails from zenimax on the subject, it was just all word on the street type of thing in zone chat and guild chat and here on the forums.

Was that the incident where one player accused another player of something, and had a screenshot as "proof"... Then gave that screenshot to other people who reported. Only to find out the screenshot was photoshopped and they ended up falsely reporting, resulting in bans for those that reported with faked evidence?

no need for fear, it was just a thing i saw and i dont want to be part of it.
people allways say "just report them if you think they are cheating"
but i know that is a grey area i dont want to be a part of.

I haven't ever used Miat's so I don't really know what all it changes, but from what I've read on esoui, I find it mindbogging ZOS allows it because it seems to be a backdoor for a lot of really not-OK ***.

However, what I want to see addressed in teh here and now is whatever addon or cheat people are using to see other alliance groups' rally points and to locate people on your friends list in Cyrodiil who are in another alliance. I am so effing tired of being in stealth either solo or in a group and having an enemy literally come out of a keep or outpost and come directly to my location. It just defeats the point of stealth in Cyro if people can pinpoint you using addons or cheats. Also, it made me purge my friends' list (which unsurprisingly resulted in a noticeable drop in being targeted while in stealth) and I will no longer add anyone to it.

Also, marcos and cheat engine. I love seeing an enemy rep a keep door mid-battle to 50% in half a sec.

In the last year i've reported three players for cheating. All three were suspended.

I didn't report them for hacks or anything like that, because I don't believe those exist and i've never, not once in the last year, seen something that couldn't be explained by lag or skillful play. But i've seen a few geometric exploits.

The players in question were using fire rune to 'insta kill' their enemies with environmental damage in the BGs. they got suspended. its not a hack, but it was a confirmed exploit.
