People complain. Stuff gets nerfed.
That said there should be a separate skill tree for BGs instead of the alliance war skills so BG balance doesn't impact the rest of the game. BGs are small skirmishes and Cyrodiil is a set piece battle.
was a long term wow fan for many years, latley i go on like twice a year (3-4weeks at a time, 1 month sub) but overall i like the community and story of eso, but one thing i miss every time i do visit wow again is the unusual skills.
mind control, traps, point blank "push" blasts, swarms of undead, plowing THROUGH players with a "push" arrow or "dodge roll" to knock them aside. etc.
which i'm surprised ESO lacks alot of, they weren't always the best skill to use at all times, but when they were used right really had its impact, made the classes feel unique with their own strengths.
in ESO your lucky if your entire skill tree is viable at all, most skills are awful and serve such a small use its not even worth them.

I know what you mean. Lack of spell/ability diversity can make this game feel rather stale sometimes.
Devs get tired of trying to balance a game for multiple kinds of classes, so they normalize and homogenize everything until the only classes left are:
Tank, DPS, Healer. Now in different colors!

Biggest reason I left WoW? Skill line "simplification" nerfs when Panda's came out. I liked being able to put points where I wanted. If I wanted to focus on one skill tree, fine. I can do that. If I wanted to split them among all 3, I could do that too. Now that you can only focus on one skill tree, and only choose 1 skill per tier, all the classes became "cookie-cutter" specs. All feral druids are the same, all Ret Paladins are the same. There is no class "diversity" anymore.
