Strength of the Automaton vs Sword-Singer - why choose Sword-Singer?

Hello I'm looking at these two sets and wondering why you would ever use Sword-Singer instead of Automaton? Like if you could only fit one of these sets in your build wouldn't Automaton give essentially the same bonus but to all physical abilities instead of just two handed abilities? Apart from a small difference in weapon damage on the 5 piece bonus, isn't Automaton strictly better? Why would I want Sword-Singer instead?

I could envision a Stam Sorc who has NO stamina morphs using this set. If he was running 2H/BOW, he could have Sword-Singer on the front bar and some Bow oriented set on the back bar, thus making room for a 2pc monster set. Why turn down an extra 50 Weapon Damage if you can fit Sword-Singer into you build? The alternative would be to run something like Automaton + Hundings or some sustain set on both bars, but no monster set.

Sword-Singer is also easier to farm for lower level characters (dolmens, chests, etc.).

The only reason I can see is if you’re trying to make some sort of Onslaught based “gank” build where you run something like Singer front Truth/Alch back and look to blast pugs with the 2h ulti

Sword singer jewellery is basically free for some reason? Easier to get the set if you don't want to do DC a lot.

Rally heals get boosted by Sword Singer, but not by Automaton.

Lol, yep. Any purple jewellery obtainable in Alikr is pretty much given away - especially during the dub xp events.

Thanks for the responses everyone. To summarize, Sword-Singer has some practical utility in that it is a more accessible set (easier to acquire vs Automaton) while also offering some advantages in PVP (2Hander ulti burst/gank play) as well as boosting the heals from Rally.

Wouldn't Automaton also boost the 2Hander ulti though? But yes I see Sword-Singer would offer the most optimization for this ability due to 50 extra weapon damage. Ultimately it seems that the better Rally heal would be the selling point for the set if you were to chose it over Automaton (granted farming wasn't a concern).

^ if the ability in question doesn't do physical damage, Automaton does not apply.

Rally may scale off your weapon damage stat, but it doesn't actually do any physical damage.

Dark shade 1is one of the easiest dungeons ever. No reason someone should ever use sword singer over Automaton. There’s another set that is just for dual wield I think that is also the exact same; both unadulterated kaka.

I farmed my entire set of Impen Automaton for PVP in 30 runs over two days. But then again, I had a tank/DPS I could use to ensure that the runs went quickly no matter what PUGs I ended up with. So for someone not comfortable with running dungeons or unable to dedicate the time to farming a gear set, Sword-singer is a good second choice.

Sword singer is garbage if I remember corrrectly, but could be used in niche situations.

In general I would usually recommend auto.

I run automaton over SS because then it applies to my poison injection, hurricane, and most importantly, Dawnbreaker

Actually, poison injection is poison damage and doesnt get buffed by automaton.

I just added sword singer to my stamblade because I’d never tried 2h before. Instead of farming I got a full set in 20 min for less than 1k. I leveled 2h when I turned in 50 writs with xp boosts. Class, Dw and bow are already maxed, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

My point is that it is was an easy casual thing to try.

VO + Automaton + 2H Master or Sanctorium Sword + mealstrom bow works great for my stamsorc. Without stam Problems only take 3 Parts VO and a Monster Set.
So every skill has 400 more dmg, except poison injection.
