The groom costume is the closest thing we have, but an actual trench coat would look nice on vampire characters imo

I'm still annoyed at all the steampunk dwemer stuff.

OTOH the long merc "jacket" looks a bit like one.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

The idea of trenchcoats seems a bit strange in a medieval fantasy setting. But there again, so are a lot of the other costumes.

The broadbrimer hats are pretty cool though. A trenchcoat or duster would complete the winter look

The coat was already in development in the middle ages, although many were closed through the skirt and only had buttons in the bodice area. The direct predecessor to our modern coats came from the Middle East sometime in the late Medieval to Early Renaissance; it was a long and frequently buttoned overgarment similar to what was already present in Europe, but the front closure extended for the entire length and it often included further slits in the skirt, to be worn while riding horses.

There is nothing anachronistic about coats in a series that already borrows heavily from the late Renaissance and early Enlightenment in its sartorial lore.

oh you mean the totally canon things? sorry but the steampunk element on the elder scrolls is vital to the series

Ummm...trenchcoats wouldn't really fit the atmophere. Besides, the Mercenary robes are close enough, methinks.

Yes or a nice duster. Since we don’t get capes a nice drapey long jacket would be a great gender neutral item.

elderscrolls universe is based on the Dwemer and thier steampunk type style(s).
without the Dwemer you have no elderscrolls universe.
removing the dwemer style from elderscrolls would be like removing water, air, and grass from the earth.

Trenchcoats just appear a bit too anachronistic for my tastes. I'm already annoyed with the wedding suit and the noble suit. They really need to tone their designs down; there are plenty of ancient civilizations ZOS can look to for inspiration. They don't need to go forward in a game set so far in the past.

I'd rather have cloaks, preferably if they didn't stick to your legs like the various robes, skirts, and suchlike do now.

I said NO but would be open to a Trench Coat like Bogart wore in Casablanca. Then I could have my character look like Al Capone especially if ZOS came out with a Fedora Hat. I mean face it folks if you want to completely get away from the Elder Scrolls lore why not. Maybe a Tommy Machine Gun too would be nice and instead of Horses and some of the other weird mounts running around some 1930 era cars. Then of course ZOS could add another district to Imperial City called Chicago.

    Trench Coats really? Come on.

I know its been said before, but unfortunately the Dwemer and the Clockwork City stuff all comes from TES III: Morrowind. So its pretty well cemented into the canon of the Elder Scrolls.
