I think homestead and the furnishing craft system is awesome, I’d just add a slightly new approach to the requirements for any given piece.
The mat requirements for any single purple or lower quality piece should be something that can be farmed specifically, and it should be something a player can farm in about an hour. The point of furnishings is to put hundreds into a home, so if a player obtains a recipe they shouldn’t be hindered by a long grind for each piece.
Of specific note, the rakeipa requirements are bad. You can’t farm a specific rune stone, so a player has to grind forever to generate 15 for a single light. Or they have to use guild stores, which is fine except your crafting bags mean that mats are rare in stores. I did a test last Friday, and if a player wanted to make a dozen quality lights, the guild stores on PS4 NA didn’t have enough rakeipa in the six major trade areas.
Style mat requirements are also bad on some items. A player can’t farm ancient elf style mats specifically, so that entire line of furnishings is cumbersome. Dwemer is ridiculous. I’d note that I specifically decided not to buy the Orbservstory because I don’t want to go through the hassle of making dwemer stuff. I have the recipes...just I don’t want to spend $2 million on Frames.
Let’s rething furnishing crafting in the next major update, and make the requirements a little less annoying. If players feel there’s a path to easily furnishing their homes, they’ll play the system more. When you set it up to consume all mats of a specific type in the game and they’re not available, it’s annoying.
