A tip for friendly play with wasps

Okay so anyone doing the New Life event knows the wasp situation for the orc one is a mess, people camping at the spawn sites and such. I come to offer a tip to help fellow players.

It only takes a few light attacks on the wasp to get credit for the kill and get the honey, meaning, if you find a wasp, light attack it about 3 to 4 times, then lead it to others so they can get credit too. There's no need to nuke it and kill it as fast as you can, this goes too for those that the wasp is lead to, throw a few attacks in, then let the next person have a shot. This way the wasp can go to numerous players with only a few seconds of time lost on your part.

Too many times have I seen higher level players nuke wasps from full health to dead, giving other players zero shot at the honey, so have some compassion and take a few extra seconds to make sure that wasp helps a handful instead of just one.

Does this count for wolves too? I’m gonna start light attacking the wasp because those took forever to find yesterday.

There were 2 of us that stumbled upon a wasp. Both of us just light attacked and stood there until a couple more players were able to hit the wasp as well and get the honey.

    Agree with OP.

Edit: I didn't see any problems with the wolf spawns, they were everywhere but I'd imagine the same would work for them too, just need to hit em once to get credit for the kill.

Nice. I'll keep this in mind for the future.

In b4 all the "Don't tell me how to play!" replies the OP will likely get :/

Yeah, it works for wolves, too, and the War Orphans Sojourn (IIRC).

I'll usually light attack them, and look around. If there's no one around (happens often in the morning), I'll go ahead and kill it quickly. (That way, it'll hopefully respawn by the time someone else comes.)
If I see people far away, I'll just keep light attacking, and if someone else comes to kill it, I'll just stop attacking altogether and wait. I don't think I've had an issue getting the items if I even make one attack on the enemy.

I actually found that if you go outside the quest area, there are a bunch of wasps. When I get home tonight, I'll find that area again and post a pic of it's location. I remember it being close to water, but I couldn't tell you exactly where it was on the map.

I haven't had too much issue myself, haven't taken any longer than 20 minutes to get what I need, but some people are not fast or miss things and they've been there for hours, makes me feel bad to see that then the next guy nuking a wasp.

But yeah it should work for all quests that require you to kill something.

But, I think if you go outside the quest area, the wasps there will not drop the honey. Only the wasps in the quest area will drop if, iirc.

The wasp I killed outside the area definitely dropped the honey. The only reason I found it, was due to getting frustrated waiting to kill one, and wandering off and harvesting instead. I was quite a bit outside the area when I killed the wasp and got the drop.

Yep, no reason not to. Same applies for pretty much any quest that includes "kill X things" (including cyrodiil players XD).

Those areas are usually just guidelines to help players that aren't familiar with the zone.
Most people head toward the center of the circle (which for wolves is around those ruins), but if you outside the circle to the east (particularly where that skyshard is--that's my landmark), you'll still get them from the wolves.

And, there's definitely some enemies that count outside the circle in WOS. I was able to kill some spiders (I think they were near the river, but I'll have to double-check) and got credit.

Can confirm this. I wandered pretty far to dig up a treasure chest and killed a wasp on the way - the island is lousy with wasps on one side - and got the quest drop.

I didn't realize there was a wasp-shortage problem, maybe I'll just keep going a little farther out like that.

that is not true. the entire island is eligible, despite it not being marked as quest area. speaking from experience. its much easier to get that quest done, if you go outside of the quest area.

A single light attack will do, actually. Problem for me is my light attacks sometimes crit for like over half their health. I do my best to share, but you can only do so much.

Trying is fine, it's when you see them using their ult skills and jabs and everything to kill as fast as they can is it obvious

I run through the other closer spawns on the way to this spot, I usually see about 5 wasps in this area, also a few wolves there.

Ah, a Tragedy of the Commons scenario, something the was recently in a Ted Ed and Extra Credits videos. If everyone just hits the the mobs they need just enough, there is enough credit to go around. But in one's personal self interest, a player wants to kill the mobs quickly for credit to turn in the quest faster. This leaves fewer mobs to share as more players rush to get credit. Eventually making everyone wait longer for respawns.

So much this. I brought in my level 11 character* to do the quest yesterday, and there was a level 690 there who was killing things faster than I could even get a shot in. Argh!

*with no CP points, either, since it was on the EU server and I usually play on NA.

I usually light attack them, both wolves and wasps, and then just stand there waiting. Usually a small group of players comes by and kills them, and everyone gets loot.
