Wow. Battlegrounds has way less lag than Cryo and IC.

I was expecting to jump into battlegrounds and just lag and die. But I can actually play the game in battlegrounds.
I can weapon swap without getting stuck :o, I can see abilities being used and respond to them what is this!!!!

Is there something particularly wrong with the way Cryo and particular IC is set up that makes it unworkable?

I think IC needs to be immedately decoupled from Cryo and allowed to be like battlegrounds, whatever is different about battlegrounds, because its really hard to play PVP on that scale with that kind of lag you experience.

There is definately something inherentially wrong with the game archetecture around alliance PVP, i needs a complete reboot.

If you enjoy fighting teams mixed of permablocktard tanks and templar/warden healbots, go ahead. I would honestly rather have a lagparty in cyrodiil than play the utter crap that is battlegrounds this patch.

Reason why bgs arent popular isnt lag.
    It was never about lag.

Problem is about how easy it is to abuse battleground game modes with cheesy setups.

Its just numbers and size of the zone.

Smaller zone with a LOT less players in = a LOT less lag.

    THIS. BGs offer:

    -No lag fests
    -No Zergs
    -No horse simulation
-Just good old-fashioned small scale PvP

If anyone wants to experience PvP without constant lag and hasn't tried BGs, you are in for a pleasant surprise.

edit - just remove CP and we'll be golden

Battlegrounds should have a predefined armor setup for light, medium, and heavy. Each class has 2 setups per armor choice to use. One, more damage but less sustain, the other more sustain less damage for instance. Choose it and that’s what you have. Whatever light armor build you use is the same light armor build the next guy has (for the most part) Pick your own skills for your bars. Back to no CP. playing field is evened.

Obviously shooting from the hip here, but something like this would make it more competitive.

Agree with OP. These last 2 months I've played nothing but BGs. It is so much more fun. No lag, no horse simulator, no spending 10 mins trying to find where the action is.

Yeah there might be some try-hard 4-man groups with group-oriented builds that can make some games a bit less fun. Yeah domination is a poopy game mode where you win if you avoid confrontation all game long (the exact opposite of what PvP is). It's not flawless, it could use improvements in queuing and game mode selection. But the positives outweigh the negatives by quite a wide margin.

I've had so much fun in the last 4 weeks using BGs as a testing ground while learning to play new (for me) classes, or trying different builds on old ones. It's just so good for players that like to play solo or duo. Just queue up and jump straight into fights where you can make a meaningful contribution.

I really like BG as is for the reasons that OP and others mentioned. I give a flying *** over non-CP whining, because I enjoy the extreme challenge to burn down cheese setups with my own cheeser setup. :) However there would be great if there be an option to choose CP or nonCP matches. I believe there is enough players right now to cover both options.

Yup. No. 1 reason to play BG and forget about Cyrodiil.

For me, Cyrodiil is unplayable. Plain and simple. The lag is so persistent and so heavy, that it is just straight unplayable. If BG's were not here, i would not play the game.

As a side note, if you enter a Cyrodiil cave, and then get CCed through the entrance door once you’re in the delve instance (works in lots of delves in the game), you can PvP with zero lag. Not helpful for typical PvP, but it’s great for tournaments and stuff like that :)

It might have a little something with Battlegrounds being a small zone for no more than 12 players, as opposed to:

Cyrodiil: a huge zone with hundreds of players designed for groups of 8-24 players and supporting everything from solo players, small groups, organized raids, zergs, and faction stacks

Imperial City: a smaller but still decent sized zone, semi-attached to Cyrodiil, designed for solo players, groups of 2-24 players, and a whole lot of PVE content on top of that.
