Elder Scrolls lore is not all that detailed compared to the likes of Tolkien's Silmarillion. Although, I suspect the plot of TES: Daggerfall would make for some epic fantasy drama/mystery.

I haven't been that impressed by the Elder Scrolls novels, but there is plenty of fantastic Elder Scrolls fanfiction (and plenty of bad fanfiction too because 90% of anything is bad).

After eight stars, I definitely know ZOS doesn't give a flying *** about what I think.

The general idea is fine. The problem is that 95% of the time the Hollywood people doing it just sort of half-ass their way through it, don't give a flying crap about things like "lore" or "continuity" or "logic", or they care too much and try to squeeze way too many cameos and references into a one hour time slot. Or, more often than not, they try to "improve" what's already there and just end up making a huge mess of it.

Or they do a really good job that the fans love and is super successful, but the execs don't like it for whatever reason so they shove it into the Friday night death slot and start pulling funding or rearranging episodes or just up and cancel it with absolutely no explanation whatsoever.

Otherwise, I've had good luck with looking at completed stories longer than 100k words, which tends to separate most of the wheat from the chaff, as it were.

To be entirely fair to Hollywood here, we've got Dunmer practicing slavery, Altmer who basically live and breath racial supremacy, Bosmer committing cannibalism, a history of elves slaughtering humans and humans slaughtering elves, an Empire that up and conquers everyone about once an era, on top of everyone in Tamriel thinking their culture is superior to everyone else's...

Tamriel is already plenty politicized. Its not like you have to work hard to find political commentary in the Elder Scrolls.
