ZOS said that Steam is around 1/3 of the PC market, so we can assume 20-30k concurrent players, split across the two servers (so around 10-15k per server). Console player base is supposed to be the same size as PC, according to ZOS. Not sure how accurate that estimate is though since it hinges on random statements made by ZOS.

    Hmm,

Well sustain issues aren't as bad as it seemed, but does feel a rough for underdogs still. They are working on increasing heavy attack resource.

They fixed perfect trait issue. Not only is there transmute but it's really not obvious what trait or even mundus will work for you. So there's a quite a bit of build diversity for dps now.

They fixed the super unbalanced healing field in regards that will now every class can actually compete to heal. Warden could of be queens, but had a rocky start with there two key perks , 10% increase health and free Purge, being bugged for months. It's good now but it take some time for it recover it's PR. It's defensive healing makes it to dog in PvP healing.

On to next one nightblade healers had it bit rough with Morrowind. There sustain passive well let's say it was broken until recently. Also now, they got a bizarre yet interesting burst heal that sacrifices health for a heal and minor mending ( think bloodspawn). Well even so, you got that one guy toppings the leader boards as one so maybe they are in best spot? Even if that's an exception you will find them great in battlegrounds, and vDSA.

Dragon knight healers been focus of last two patches. They fixed 3 of there skills. God, they must've been broken. Still legendary to see, but not unheard to be in end game content. It's migration healing like warden but takes care if you before the fact. They need their specialized sets looked at.

Sorcs man why is they are so hated, but they ate quit the popular now that the twlight Maritach is most flexible burst heal. So bizarre patch ago you will find a note saying part of Templar bol is direction. After two years pets are fixed in 98% of places so won't have issues with it dying constantly, taking buffs, taunting ( anyone who says differently is joking or foolish. ) Overall it's quite chatoic playstyle , but most flexible to all group needs. So noticably great in dungeons no matter how you play it.

You might not like Templar if you used to play that. There average dps is slacking next to others but not as rare as Magicka dj are these days. In regards to healing besides misguided and traditional perception they still most balanced healers. They give stamina and magicka back to allies with there synergy aka shards. Mind you now other healers can give orbs which returns highest resource, but not half of the other. Repentance is for stamina Templars now as doesn't give stamina back Allies. Maybe only class to compete with wardern in mythicial stamina healers ( yes it's a thing)

It regards to healing sets it's quite back water, but reality is quite a bit of them are useable. For most occasions it's spell power cure plus worm, twlight remedy or mending, but further anyalisis yield so untouched gems that do work on depending on the situation and class of healer including stendarr, gossmber, master artechit, inventor guard. Likely bad buds include prayer shawl and lamina song.

Tanks are still mostly dragon knights inn Trials but anything elsewhere even stamina nightblades. They are trying to improve so you have things like swam mother that was significantly buffed, warden frost gate the same. Some notes are frost tanks are a thing. This was a buff for magicka tanks. In regards to sets still quite diverse after all takes an aphla dog to tank so they aren't pushed around. But currently being highlighted is torugs pact, alkoash, plague doctor, werewolf hide and dragon guard, ebon.

Food wise many have taken a like to well sustain food.. even posions for the rich. The even richer can enjoy an luxarious gold Magicka version that costs about 4 k to eat ( make sure have food passive for extra time). Though so have adjusted better and enjoy blue again while tanks still consume mostly tri food or health plus regain food.

Housing market had stabilized so now the average user can afford to buy items from guild stores. Luxary vendor is a hot or might some weeks.

    * Note gold vendor now rotates all overland sets..but spc gold is still a dream.

Merchants will still enjoy playing around with eso encomany. But trade guilds don't have be up at dawn on Monday to secure traders so bit easier. At last though ghost guilds are still a thing and so guilds are forming alliances in the hottest zone, so upstarts are unlikely to be able to secure a place. On back to selling, it's mostly housing, materials, and potions with risings prices in gear as selling less after transmute. Need more consumbles in game is my thought.

Crafting has its hits or miss this year, but everyone knows they are some of the riches players in game. Housing Crafters do well but unfortunately normal Crafters are just well poor as most people still wants gear crafted for free. Maybe their chance will come with transmog.

Explorers where buffed this year. You will find you can a lot more xp doing quests and better loot with treasure Hunter passive. At last treasure maps seem like a hot or miss for some with only 20% of people enjoying them. They also been working hard to fix locations of lorebooks and you can even get an title called librarian.

Thieves enjoy quite a luxary with being easiest way to make gold. They also have ability to acquire some rarest items in game vis pickpocket. Note they were nerfed a bit as to say it's harder to rob nobles now. Khajiit passive looks nicer now.

Muderers don't have much going for them or so I heard. It's mostly same as thieves, but blade of work getting buggy with vampire feed synergy. So people are pleading for bounty hunting and kilking guards so maybe will be a thing.

Werewolves vs vampires, is well everyone and seems to be an vampire especially at end game when most of negative effects are migrated. There's strong call outs for vampire dlc and way to hid ugly skin. Now werewolves have been buffed and nerfed this year. You could used engine guardian to reduce feed on for high up time in form, but pets despwan after death now. You could unite in dungeons as a pack but passive was capped down after so monsters in battlegrounds. In regards to buffs will you can weave animations a bit better between skills. Recently saw a pack of wolves complete a trial... Though normal so maybe it could be a thing, but in a bad spot.

Recently change is monthly combat updates were they tackle issues like synergies, off balance, perm blocking. This might make werewolves a thing, fix synergy sets moon dancer ..etc, and move trends to using other off balance forms if it's off balance really gets immunity.

A slight thing is fixed ..or nefered some menentos. Including the one that gave you ultimate and other that trapped people. Fixed a ghost menento people were cheating with. The decorative body menentos were fixed to last 3 mins which is fun. At last though most are useless in gameplay except like four. So maybe one day this will get looked at so there's more combat menentos.

Side note there's five dps test dummies in game at last nothing to test tanking or healing so game still has a strong emphasis on dps.

On last thing, they been more generous with having contests and giving free crown crates, but needs to keep better lore as last was sad lore wise. Did a promotion and gave out mount to Morrowind owners and new ones. Attempted to do a Christmas present event but ended up a bit sour for some people. Design team will probably have to look at this again. But event was best one that got community lively. Mind you in that note group finder works just can't handle over capacity during peak hours in such an event. Overall better than last year with great elk scandal.

Truly last thing is with all headache in beginning if this year, and previous bad reviews it's a bit lacking influx of new players. Needs some PR love. The zone chat is still bizarre but under control. We even say a GM in once in riverspire. Yes bots are a thing and show up in some instances. At last though someone built an bot add on that curcumivalents the poor bot customer service response. Yes costumer service is still dubious but actions seem to taken if noticed in forums.

P.S new add ons to aquire combat mertircs, doughlan set crafter and lazy write crafter. Auto category for bag magement, and superstar for build magement.

Hmm I believe I covered everything and the quick answer is yes. The game is worth it. The world design and gameplay is quite stable. Only thing they need is more events, group content and consumbles, housing wayshires, and more optimatization for trials or so I say, but otherwise this how I imagined Skyrim online but way better. It fullfiled it's promise to play as you want better this year.

Forget to torrementor set still broken for werewolves >.> Hope it gets looked at.

Also it's not a pay to win game, and does have cooldown like other games so probably one of the best games or so ai think.

I'd say it is one of the healthier MMO's out there right now, honestly :)

I played a year or so ago (maybe a bit more) and got a stamblade to cp 164. My only max level character.

I burned out a bit and drifted away. Bought Morrowind and tried a warden but couldn't get into the class for some reason (currently sitting at 24).

For some reason i got the itch to play again about 2-3 weeks ago. I started a Stam sorc (i play on ps4 btw) and have been loving it so far :)

I don't have a ton of time to play so i'm only just now hitting level 40. I cleared Wrothgar and am almost done with the thieves guild questline. I started the main story (to get the soul trap passive) and the dark brotherhood line (i love blade of woe... sue me... lol) and have been doing my daily dungeon and heist.

There feels like plenty to do. The towns are populated. Dungeon queues are some of the shortest i've ever experienced in an MMO (when it works... that is still a bit bugged... if a queue lasts longer than 5-10 min leave it and re-queue... most that i do are darn near instant).

I haven't done much pvp yet but i see enough discussion and complaints to see that it seems fairly healthy lol.

Regardless of what builds are "best" i seem to see pretty much everything around. I see a bear here (warden), a twilight matriarch there (sorc), some dude turning on dragonblood over there (dk), etc. etc. I don't recall thinking "wow, i never see "x" anywhere".

So yea... TL;DR: Despite some complaints ESO seems to be kickin it pretty well right now. They just came out with the clockwork city dlc and morrowind did quite well so updates are still rolling along. You get a TON for free and can get everything but morrowind if you sub (don't have to... i do... just for the craft bag if nothing else lol).

Hella fun times. Glad i came back myself :)

My anecdotal view of how the game is doing is "very well." I say that because the world feels "crowded." Whether I'm farming resources, running a delve, buying something I saw on TTC, or queuing for a dungeon, there are people EVERYWHERE. I've played games where certain areas feel completely dead and ESO is not one of them. Seems to be going strong.

The world is huge and I'm still surprised at how crowded it is. Even seemingly remote, unpopular areas have plenty of people. I went skyshard farming in a less popular zone...Greenshade or something, and there was someone with me at every Skyshard I found.

I was probably level 12 before I realized delves had monsters in them. The first few I entered were so crowded that the monsters were killed before I even realized they were there.

As for balance, sadly, it's all about the staff. I'm a bit of a fantasy game purist and think the worlds should be "sword and sorcery." ESO, however, is "magic and staves." In a trial last night, of 12 people, I was the only one not carrying a staff. The tank and I were the only ones not wearing a dress. Magika staff users can solo a vast majority of the content in the game while traditional fantasy game roles (rogue, fighter, thief, warrior, barbarian, etc.) can't as easily.

(queue the stam sword swingers who tell me to L2P as they solo the entire game on their level 10 stam dw nightblade)

Edit cause I want to be through with it.

    I forget a few things

The upgraded pet amour sets so it shares user and class passives. It's like your child now. Creepy or cool not so sure, but makes things diverse. Still room to explore this option.

2 piece and one piece options

They rebalance monster helms so for best results depends on situation

Earthgore is very popular healing monster set in pve and especially in PvP for good reason. You sometimes see them in trials too as it helps in burn phases.

Sentiental monster set doesn't die as much now that shares class and user passives.

Chotheken is said to have bad auto targeting, but haven't tested to say for sure.

Bogdan was buffed but was enough hard to say. Rumours say it's useable pvp now

For others takes 50 Stones and you can transmute the gear of you're dreams

Ayslum weapons are mostly weapons for everyone with easier access the them via normal Trials.

Some lag, some DF bugs, some balance issues but in general it's great

If you are asking about performance, it varies based on platform, PVE/PVP and when you log in.

From a population perspective on PC, population seems up significantly over the last 2-3 years. That is my PvE opinion based on the number of people I see in Zones.

There is some discussion turbulence around how RNG works. Also you have the typical colorful friction you would expect to see in PvP experiences.

Just in there other day. You can still see scary gankers, troll king tanks, flashy sorcs. Seems like heathy zergs. But really would like to see more to do in cydrolli.

Tormentor is not broken in regards to Werewolves.
The Werewolves jump is not considered as a "charge" by the game. It is a "Dash". So it's not a bug. it is intended that way.
it would be nice if they changed it from a "dash" to a "charge", but thats not a bugfix. that would be a design decision.

    in regards to ESO:
its okay. the usual problems they can't fix and will never be able to fix, like lag in cyro and the like.
from what i've heard and seen, quite a few of the long time players did quit or take a break, but morrowind did semi good job in bringing in new people.
    same old, same old.
