I want to buy the merchant for 5k crowns...but I heard there is a new merchant coming out???

Should I buy now or wait for the newer version!?

I heard the same about the banker but when I had my 5K crowns saved up I got the banker and oh what a godsend he is.
I don't think I'd get the merchant as they are all over the place and I always run into the traveling merchants on the roads.

I heard about the new merchant and banker before my purchase but said *** it, and bought it anyway. That was a year ago and no new merchant. It was also confirmed that these new assistants will do the exact same function, just look different.

I voted other, for just because. :P I know some people will say you don't need it, so don't buy it at all. I say it's your money so do as you choose. I don't have it so not sure if it's really good and I am missing out. Since reading the comments I say get it now. It seems this "rumour" has been out for over a year, so who knows if and when it will come out.

If you want to spend the money do it, note that the banker in my opinion is better, but we'll, you could also just go without them, it's not that big of a handicap

I don't think we're getting a new merchant, so don't know where you heard that rumor. There was an old rumor a year ago or so, but that doesn't count.

before you decide to buy whatever merchant, i heard this merchant can't repair your stuff, which is a quite important feature, i'd say.
i don't own the merchant, so maybe someone who does can confirm this.

While I already had the banker, the merchant was bought with the understanding that the new ones when released would have the same features.

The new banker and merchant that were datamined were intended to be premium, with special cosmetic differences and unique VO. The team is sensitive to the fact that adding more/better in-game functionality would not be fair to those who already bought the current banker and merchant NPC. How the team can make them really special while keeping that in mind is what is still in discussion.

(Also, we have a general rule of not commenting on datamined things for this very reason. They're subject to change. We made an exception in this case to help quell the rumors and concern.)

So your guess on when is as good as anybody's. I can say though the merchant is far more helpful than I originally thought she would be.

there is no way to repair faster and cheaper than with a merchant.
of course you can buy repair kits, if you are used to settle for less.

Edit: i stand corrected! Had no clue these were even sold for such low prices in the guild stores!

reapair kits are much cheaper than using merchant, specially if you do writs and have tons of them. But even buying them in guild stores at their current MM value they are to be preferrred when repair is higher than +- 800 gold. So of course dont repair armor whenever you can but wait the crucial moment when its profitable. Just beware of not breaking some pieces. Its faster and convenient to pay gold but not cheaper .

She will buy your stuff anywhere, anytime except in Cyrodiil. No need to delete stuff when you are out in the wilderness and out of bag-space. You will get rich if you explore a lot.

It's true she does not repair armor. Do daily writs and receive free repair kits.. problem solved.

Premium banker with guild store / bank access, id happily pay for.

Hell I'm happy with a Guild Bank / Store helper for 5k and the banker for 5k. Just right now its pretty worthless to be unless I get guild stuff access as I still need a hub to do anythung.

In morrowind beta we had Khajiit tail turfs and Argonian tail spikes,
Still not in store,
however to mock us, CWC has Khajiit with tail turfs.

No you can not pickpocket it. This one has tried.
And yes an re-skinned merchant and banker would be trivial.

If you plan on gold farming then by all means buy away.
If not then save your IRL money for a new game or something.

Go ahead and buy them. They've been talking about releasing "premium" skinned versions for a long time but the community response to it was so negative that they had to backtrack. People were concerned about 1. There being new features, and 2. 5000 crowns not being premium enough. I don't think it will be happening anytime soon, if ever. Feel free to buy and use the existing assistants. They are both really handy and I use them every day.
