Xbox - First Person on D-Pad

Why in the world is first person view on the D-Pad? Why would I ever want to quickly change between first and third. That's fine that there's an option to change, but why there? Can't tell you how many times I have hit in combat when bar swapping. Is there a way to remove this from the D-Pad??? If not... @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom why in the heck is it there? Who in the heat of battle needs to bar swap, pop a potion and then go into first person?

Mind you I do use the elite controller so i have a paddle to bar swap

Okay, so when do you use it? I literally never want to be in first person during combat. It's an awful place to have it for me...no elite.

The point is that the Bar Swap is terribly placed. You can't even keep moving while bar swapping. That's the most stupid part about the controller. For the rest, its fine for the most part

I swap between first and third person all the time. Combat and exploring in 3rd person, and I'll switch to 1st person when I want to look at something closely, open urns, walk around town's.

Especially useful when decorating your house.

Works when trying to do quests. I’ve never used outside of questing but there is a lot of questing.

Questing as in the release of 2016 dlc

I agree with you, OP. I play on PC but use the controller. I remapped the D-pad and took that off. I can use the mouse to switch from third person to first person. I found it difficult, in the heat of battle, to hit the D-pad exactly right to get the action I wanted. Now I have weapon swap on the left and potions on the right and nothing on the top or bottom.

Elite controller with custom mapping is the way to go, if you want to play with controller. I've been using it on PC since it first released, and now I can't even stand the feel of the standard X1 controller, not to mention my trusty old 360 controller for Windows, that I used for years. I own 3 now, as I just got another new one off Monoprice for $125.

Two things @BANK_IT_HERE

1. It's not a 1st/3rd person switch, its zoom in / out (I didn't realise for months) which is handy on the fly for situational awareness etc
2. Remap it. DPAD bar swap is unreliable at best and means moving your thumb a way. Most I know map it to right stick click, so d pad is then crouch. It's way more reliable..

I'd like to contest that claim.

Controllers are MUCH more user friendly and comfortable to use. You really have to stretch your fingers to use ability keys, you can't move at any other pace other than walk or run when pressing a key. I bought ESO on Steam when it was cheap and tried it. Within the first hour or two I absolutely had to plug in my Controller. I realize MMORPGs are traditionally a PC game, but I'll still claim gaming is much more comfortable with a Controller.

I totally agree with this. Also, if you have any issues with your hands, such as carpals or arthritis, the controller is much easier to use with less strain on your hands and wrists.

I realize it is also the zoom key, but again, not something I personally need quickly.

Also, I don't have an elite controller. I know there are a couple of controller setups in game, but I can't remap it like an elite.
