magica warden: dw vs destro frontbar // 1hs vs restro backbar

hello everyone

as topic says i want to discuss the different magwarden options to get a clue which one ist the most vaible

im looking forward on constructive postings of you fellow wardens

in my opinion:

frontbar
destro: lower dmg but option for weaving with crushing shock/la
dw: higher overall dmg because of 2*5 set pices and dw 5% of swords.

backbar
destro: healing passives are nice and healing ward usage
1hs: good turteling options and also possibility of using a "backbar support set" (wizards riposte/transmutation)

if u look on warden guides the most setups are either dw+restro or destro and 1hs

so i want do tlks about the difference and strenghts / weaknesses of the different setups

I didn't play on my magden for that long, but I preferred destro front so you can setup a nice deep fissure+birds+crushing shock combo to all hit at the same time. I ran destruction mastery+necro for max magicka. I ran a resto back bar because I don't like defensive ults. I used northern storm on the front bar for the max magicka and meteor from the back bar as my offensive ult. I felt like I needed healing ward as a burst heal.

Like I said though, I didn't play on it for that long so take it for what it's worth.

Destro, it’s your only hope for a CC(reach) that you can land prior to the fissure+racer combo.

I've been running DW recently

Using the vampire skill drain for my hard CC

The Fissure, Racer, Pulse combo seems rather ineffective against top tier opponents as it's pretty predictable.

Prefer resto backbar, heavy attacks help sustain

Destro(fire)/Destro(ice)... it's perfectly doable without healing ward. Magicka management with a resto back bar is a fair bit easier though, since heavy attack on a resto gives so much magicka back compared to a destro heavy.
Use living trellis for a burst heal.
Spam shields like you're a sorc.

Also use those sets from time to time.. have about 51-52k with DM+necro on mine.

You will probably have same max mag with shacklebreaker, it’s craftable so you can go 5/1/1. I got 52/55 max mag depending on mundus i’m using

Right now I run sword and board /resto , definitely not the setup for everyone. I use resto for rapid regeneration since I don’t shield stack but rather rely on block mitigation and HOTS. I’d most likely go double sword and board if Wardens had another decent HOT.

DM will give you more.. 1k mag + 2.4k mag bonus... both have their pro's and con's..

@Waffennacht , you might be interested in this, but I talked it out a bit with @Lexxypwns .

5x transmutation jewels and S&B, then 5x winterborn with Skoria and master's ice staff. 6x sturdy, 2x impen. WB has no cooldown. With the warden ice skill, wall of elements, destructive reach, and light weaves I machine gun proc folks. Skoria is also hitting on cooldown. I'm an argonian and can more or less permablock between green balance passives, bull netch, and my racial passive.

Oh, plus minor maim with riposte makes light armor tanking legit.

Edit: not to mention strong self heals and constant major defile on everyone. I basically sit in my AOE and kill by proc and attrition.

Yeah, honestly I prefere shackle, you get that 1k back from undaunted passive and the extra max stam/stam regen is very usefull for open world, and the healing staff on backbar gives streght to the trellis burst and infinite sustain

im actually might trying this since i have a full set of them in my stash from the good old vma run times ... when the weapons where actually good in pvp....(ley down and cry)

On a Mag Warden both are good. I'd still lean towards Destro front bar since the weaving will increase your burst and your sustained pressure much more than 250 extra spell damage. For back bar, both are good, I mean it would depend on the gear you're running and whether you feel like you need a Healing Ward or if you'd prefer the blocking, stamina return and an extra set bonus.

I'd still go with Destro/Resto, but that's personally just me. I have not being able to weave, makes me feel like I'm horrendously bad at the game just spamming skills without weaving. Ugh.

It's really odd going from destro to DW. However... Shadowrend... I'm enjoying it more and more, plus it just looks cool af

I don't see the merit of destro/resto unless you're running a monster set and a two different five piece bonuses active on their respective bars.
