Is the class really that bad that barely anyone plays it ?
the only magplars i see are all healers.... and even that is Few....

no matter the game mode
no matter the place
i barely see any kind of Templars anywhere....

im playing this games sometime now...
but someone give me a run down that whats up with that.... seems like Templars are the least played class and not even a little....

is the class really THAT bad at end game ?

It's the fact that magplars are usually melee, because 1) damage to puncturing sweeps is broken and 2) stamina melee dps do way more dps. However, with a good range build, they do pretty good deeps.

Templars are really only good in groups as healers/support. In anything trials they are almost necessary. Same with PvP groups.

As dds they take a melee spot, and have low dps due to scaling issues. And solo they don't have the burst/lockdown of other classes

From a PvP perspective, their main defense is taking the hits and mass healing quickly. Unfortunately mitigation is best gotten from sets and armor type. Usually this means a massive hit to DPS.

Magdk is in a similar spot, we don't get much use out of shields. Passive mitigation doesn't scale with magic...

Therefore, in this major defile, stamina (or magsorc) meta, magplar in PVP are a rare breed.

So rare that when I do kill skilled players. I normally make a friend, as not many skilled players get killed by magplar, it's thought of as like a featherweight boxer beating a heavyweight. Skill helps...But the tools we have for defense are miserable. When magplar can equip three damage sets and stand up to a magsorc on even grounds and skill level, you know well be good, until then most magplar non healers have been shelved, I have even thought about it a bit myself

I love my magplar.......she is my main. She does 36K damage on the training dummy. I'm with you, OP. I don't understand why so many people say dps templars are so bad.

In PvP they're very strong. One of the best actually. They are one of the best in a 1v1, and the best in group PvP. As far as PvE goes they are BiS when it comes to healing. They really aren't in a bad spot by any means.

I think that's based on a specific niche way of building templars. Stray far from the vamp-block-healbot and you'll find less and less optimal builds. Don't want vamp? You'll need 2h and speed pots with forward momentum. Don't want block? Too bad we don't have another defense since class shield nerfed, no AOE cc, and our hard cc options are countered by block.

But otherwise I think some templar builds are very competitive. But I know some Templars that gave up and switched to sorcs/nbs. I think it's more about the frustrating way Templars play over their strengths compared to other classes.

Ranged magplar is pretty decent in pve, I would put it as third best ranged dps behind magblade and petsorc.

If they fixed beams scaling then rangedplar could probably compete for top ranged.

However even with sweeps and Beam being fixed they would still heavily lose to stamina melee dps

Depends on the context. More chill trial groups it won't matter but for competitive groups dd magplars will not be the melee variant since it underperforms. The range is good but I think you get higher numbers out of mag nbs and sorcs. And it makes me salty.

I'm a solo mag sorc player, and its true I encounter very little mag templar in cirodiil. But man when I encounter a good mag templar build then I'm toasted. Damage of puncturing sweeps + Ultimate + Power of light is insane.

I guess there are little mag-plars out there not because they are weak, it is because they are not mobile (need vampirism to make it more mobile). With the current zerging state of pvp it is very frustrating playing a class that is not mobile.

Magplar is solid for 1v1, open world PvP less so because of mobility issues and lack of CC

Yeah DoT's wreck shields, just need to be clever with burst and a good DD magplar should take a magsorc to the cleaner's

I agree, plus you completely control when Curse will go off thanks to purge.

In theory a sorc shouldnt ever be able to line up a solid burst against a magplar
