WTF 56GB update

Exactly what I wrote in the title WTF is a 56GB update about

EDIT, so game basically reinstalled then uninstalled itself and file is alot bigger than should be, when I know more will add to thread, currently reinstalled and all seems ok apart from file size.

Shouldn’t be a 56GB update and updates are not normally scheduled for the weekend. Sounds like to me for some reason you are re-downloading the entire game.

I play on disc bud literally just started game up and it has come up with 56GB update, will only take an hour with my net but it's actually added the extra 56GB update to the game so my game is around 210 gb now with the disk, I never take the disc out either as it's the only game i have on disc

What is this disc you speak off? Most computers don't have disc drives anymore (mine is broken) and everything is done online... with my net... it takes three days to download this game ... I am trying to decide if I want to lose three days to download morrowind especially since I can't play battlegrounds.

Uh, somethings not right. You either have a virus, or it's time to have your console checked/replaced.
I've never seen a game redownload itself then uninstall itself with no explanation ...

Exact same thing has happened to me twice too, Xbox one, on disc

Put disc in, said 56gb update, I thought, no that can't be right, then all of a sudden the whole game uninstalled itself! Twice now since the last update we got, good job I've got good internet lol

Did you have the game on the xbox 1x or on an external hard drive before putting the disc in?

Yeah the only grace is I get a solid 300-350mbps otherwise I'd just stop playing the game tbh

Installed it to the one X, it's the only game I keep on my xbox usually due to its size but I have mass effect on there at mo aswell, I put all my others on external just easier to manage.

It could have something to do with the console itself. I had destiny 2 install itself on on the my internal and external without my knowledge. It could also be an enhancement update as most of the Bethesda games received that recently. Doesn't explain the game uninstalling itself, could be a sign.

Just because the Xbox is brand new, doesn't mean it's working properly. Sadly at the time, my brand new Xbox had to be taken in for repairs that Microsoft covered. You might have to talk to them about it and see what is going on. Also mention that this happened to someone else on the forums here as well and see what they say.

Could be a software glitch that is very rare. Either on Microsofts side, or Zenimax side.

If he uses an HDD it is technically disks but rare someone refers to their hard drive in that manner.

For OP, sounds more like there was an issue with your game client and it is being fixed.

Even on console with a disc, this is an MMO. If the disc just has the base game files, there'd still be a bunch of patches/DLC/etc to be downloaded when you install the game. So I'm not entirely surprised at a 56 GB download.

(Even if it's a new-printing, "Gold Edition" disc, I'd doubt that the DLC & Morrowind are anything but download codes.)

Console version right now is only 94 GB with all the updates. Definitely not a 210 GB file.

Thanks will get in touch was hoping not to have problems with one X as have had a nightmare of a year with Microsoft had 3 controllers all start smoking and overheat on me and a replacement console got the one S last year, so I'm pretty good with support

Sounds like the Xbox didn’t see the game files and reinstalled / did a full game instal. I’m surprised you use a disk.

Lol *** now it's uninstalled again and it's currently installing again.

But this time, it has DISC 25.56GB and then NETWORK 56.07GB
