researching traits

quick question that I cannot seem to word correctly for the search engines:

When researching gear, do you have to research each trait for each piece of gear? For instance, if I research divines on a pair of boots, does that apply to all items or only to boots or do i have to research divines on helmet, gloves, pants, boots, etc..

You have to research Divines or other traits on each piece of gear. Be prepared for the crafting trait research grind To get all traits on all pieces it takes months of research.

You have to research each trait for each item I'm afraid! Hence the feeling of glory when you hit 9traits on all items!

You have to research divines on medium boots and light boots and heavy boots each separately (3 researched for divine boots total). If you want to craft divine helmets then you have to research a divine helmet first, your divine boots don't transfer.

thanks folks. It was daunting looking at the time frame and thinking that it applied across items was a little better but now...

There are some passives which increase the amount you can research at one time (3), and reduces research times. I think having eso+ reduces research times by 10%.

I have eso+ and it does cut the time down.

The list of slots that you can research traits for:

Armour:

• Head
• Shoulders
• Hands
• Chest
• Waist
• Legs
• Feet

You have to research each one separately for light, medium and heavy armour for each of nine traits. Making a total of 189 research periods.

Weapons

• Axe
• Mace
• Sword
• Battle Axe
• Maul
• Greatsword
• Dagger
• Bow
• Inferno Staff
• Ice Staff
• Lightning Staff
• Restoration Staff

There are nine weapon traits making a total of 108 research periods.

Shields
Shields use the armour traits but there is no heavy, medium or light so only another 9 research periods.

I make that a grand total of 306 research periods! Depending on passive abilities up to nine can be researched at any one time.

Is it any wonder everyone says start your crafting progress early?
