I would like to start off with that my character sucks and could use some help

VEtaCc4.png

For a long while I was aimlessly building the character not really sure what I wanted to be.
Now I know I want to make a self sustaing PvE Argonian Tank who can do a reasonable amount of damage.
Could you guys help point me into the right direction? Some pointers, tips, or in general what I should be thinking about when building him?

Let me know if you need any extra info.

Here is the outdated build I was following: http://deltiasgaming.com/eso-templar-tank-build/

    Heya @Iccotak

Just a few thoughts, your mileage may vary! Can you reply to this with a mention and answer the questions?

    • Do you intend to run this on all Veteran Dungeons?
    • Do you intend to run this in Trials? If so, normal and/or Veteran?
    • Possibly you may wish to put some points into health and Stamina?

    • What problems are you running into at the moment when tanking?
    • Are you running in to any issues with sustain (do you run out of magicka or stamina in along fight?)

If you'll be doing Veteran content, then you'll wish to be a good tank and should be able to rely on your team mates having high dps. A good tank probably wants to be able to mitigate damage for the others and so on.

For normal content, you should be able to get away with a tanking main bar and a dps secondary bar.

For high DPS you will need to have the majority of your points in Magicka, and may want to go 'all Light armour'.

    As a tank, you have:
    • Seven pieces of armour.
    • Shield
    • Sword
    • Three jewelry slots.

That's 12 slots to fill, allowing you to go for things like two complete sets of armor/weapons (five pieces each); and two left over etc. Or five pieces/ four pieces / three pieces. Trick will be to choose the sets that compliment and complete the concept, and fill in any weaknesses.

Argonians are great tanks and great healers.

My templar tank is a breton but I think it works fairly similarly.

So I am 50 mag and 14 hp.

Sets Spectre's eye, Akaviri dragongaurd, Shadowrend.

Infused, tri stat enchants on the big pieces head, chest and legs. Study, Health Enchants on the rest. Infused weapons, Crushing and Weakening enchants. nirnhoned shields but re-enforced is almost as good now.
Block cost reduction on the jewerly.

Now the problem is I do approximately 0 damage, I tank and heal quite well though.

Spectres eye is a werid set. I have it because I wanted more physical resistance, so health, phys resist and mag regen are all stats I was looking for. I have it for the stats more than the 5 pc bonus. There are a bunch of other options but I really want a set with a health bonus. A good option is Desert Rose set instead, you have a chance to get magic return from getting hit and kragenacs Hope is popular as well but I needed more physical resist to hit the cap so I went with Spectres eye instead. Also I'd prefer it if my allies didn't die (I do use it in PVP though)

Dragongaurd gives you more warhorns, what more could you want?, if you don't have warhorn Nova is alright as a defensive ultimate.

I want to be able to hold as a tank for Veteran content.
Probelm being that I can't last while tanking whatsoever in even normal mode.

I only have concern for DPS when I am soloing by myself in quests and such

The reason I have not put points into either health and stamina is because I relied on gear and enchantments to make up for the points.
That being said I will look into it.

Are there any sets you would recommend?

My Templar's light armor tank/healing setup, not quite vet trials spec but swap for 5 heavy and drop spell power cure for something that gives you a bit more health and you should be in a good place.

@Drayzon My guy is bad in veteran dungeons. (Thanks for the endgame build though!)
Are there any sets you would reccommend to build up to that endgame set?

Now I know I want to make a self sustaing PvE Argonian Tank who can do a reasonable amount of damage.

Look into Soulshine set, use thaumaturge CP (which works on channels and even things like wrecking blow (!) ). Templars have several channel skills.

Weapon jewelry sets (willpower, endurance etc) are good placeholders for jewelry (I use them on my main while completing vicious serpent and melt everything).

If you are a crafter look into the innate axiom sets if you have CWC for spamming class skills including heals.

If you want to tank, meaning taunt, you can go with sword-and-board with 2 full sets and full monster mask, spamming puncturing sweeps for damage and self heal, or you can go frost tank which I am less familiar with.

The only quite odd tihng I see with your build is that you use sword and shield but have max magicka (ok you didnt say what skills you used). Now that is doable and a fun build, especially for RP, but it´s a bit all over the place.

@Iccotak The main set i use there is a crafted set called Fortified Brass so its easy to get a hold of, then you can use things like endurance jewellery that you can buy, then you can have a crafted 4 piece of something for remaining two armor parts and sword and shield, or you can do a monster set like bloodspawn or engine guardian and willpower/agility sword and shield.

Look up @Xynode on youtube. He has some great builds, he updates it for every patch, he goes in depth on the correlation between stats, gear, and champion points. Really great, easy to understand builds that hold up for every aspect of the game, from level 1 to CP 690.

    https://youtu.be/SnP12O0UAWo

He has other Templar builds, but since I notice you have Magicka maxed, I went with his magicka templar build to start you off with..
Best of luck with your Templar!
