I failed to complete BF HM last night , it's sad .

Set up as below

Agon NB tank 690cp
Sentinel of Rkugamz x 2
TBS x 5
IA x 3 shield play
Master S & B x 2 , back bar IA X 2
21k mag , 41k hp , 22k stam

All my friends are sorcs , no shard and orb , but I have 2 healing pets

What I felt the biggest problem was I always got one shot by boss during switching bar , is that normal? dmg was about 49~51k
Switching bar count as no block ? Sorry , I'm a newbie tank ...
My major stam resource return was leeching and potion , I cant HA much , I cant , Im affraid Ill die suddenly ...

Positioning was another big issue , sometime I couldn't even absorb my Rku if it pop beside lava .
I lost 2/3 ~ 3/4 hp after I blocked the boss heavy attack , wth ...I have 0 sturdy but full block cp

There are some restrictions to my build , I don't know how to fight if only use one bar ...after 10 fails , down to 1.5 % and we called it a night .

Need some advises , thank you!

    bar swapping breaks block.
not blocking the anvil cracker will kill you.

Your physical resist is too low, which is why even when you block the anvil cracker it's taking all your health.
you want 33k physical resist (when fully buffed)

You need 3* block cost reduction enchants or you'll never hold all 3, you'll run out of stamina and one heavy attack will get through and you'll die.

As for the fight itself, make sure all the dps focus the tall boss down ASAP, then the small boss, then the last one.
the hardest part for the tank is when all 3 are still standing.

This is wrong in soo many levels. I MEAN THIS IS DENSE.

NB tanking? Is okay for regular normal-casual-scrolls-overland-conent, I mean everything is, but this dlc content is actually kind challenging.

Also IA? TBS, you TWICE BORN STAR? For tanking? Did you actually believe on the "play as you want" thing?

For real, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you that, but you are wasting your team mates's time. Roll a proper tank.

EDIT: I removed a meme that was a little bit offensive.

@Milvan yeah, part of me had that reaction too, but I thought i'd go for useful advice rather than outrage.

You CAN tank it on a NB tank, but it's not going to be easy. Slot the shield-wall ult and rely on that to give you windows to regain your stam.
That's about all I can think of to make it work...

Understood , thanks for all advises , I would love to listen and learn .

Actually it was a training course by my friends...they want me to know what I miss to be a real tank , even NB tank

    Boss mechanics
    Resource management
    Coordination
etc , at the same time .

They told me that Bloodroot Forge was the best training place , it was my 1st BF run , we completed the Vet version before we sleep...

    Feeling not really good...die a lot ...

Yeah, first thing is to fix your resists and your block cost reduction jewellery. You will probably want to change sets, since as Milvan pointed out, neither of those sets are good for tanking.

Then you'll need to have a plan to recover stamina while holding block and taunting 3 enemies. This is why most tanks are DK's. battle roar and helping hands are amazing for keeping your stamina up while not dropping block.

    Don't die.

... oh and don't lost aggro.

Leaving joke aside, its important to set up your gear accordingly. Your setup doesn't offer too much support to your group and neither to yourself.

Being on the armor cap is not that important at all. Anything above 26k physical and 29k spell is totally fine. You are way better of spending more on resources.

So are you effectively a sap tank? Although I haven’t tanked Bloodroot before, I used to main a Nighblade tank. They are challenging to play, but they’re also a lot of fun. In some situations, they are very strong. However, they have some notable weaknesses. From my experience, the frequency with which they need to switch bars was one of these.

Sadly, the recent changes to Harness Magicka, only make matters worse. As someone else suggested, the S&B ultimate can be a lifesaver here, especially for a NB without a panic button like Magma Shell.

May I ask how your bars are set up? Also, what Mundus Stones are using? I’m guessing you’re using IA for the 8% debuff on heavy attack. Could one of the sorcs perhaps not take on this responsibility?

You can tank a Dungeon on any class well, it’s not a real issue till trials. Tbh your gear setup is weak, and you are inepexerienced. Fix these two and your fine.

Sadly the typical snap-nb-tank got nerfed really hard within the last year. It got from one of the most fun and best for dungeon tank to why bother if i can tank it on a dk so much easier. That said, it is of course still possible to tank everything with a nb tank.

A few things that let you drop block:
    • bar-swapping let you drop block for a short time
    • dodge-rolling let you drop block for a short time
    • all channeled skills can not be block-casted

For most bosses you only really need to block the heavy attacks, which all have some kind of special animation(just look out for them/ you can also dodge most of them if you really do not what to get any damage because you are for example on low hp). You could heavy attack in the meantime.

Just test it what you need to block for yourself: Look at the damage you get while holding block.
    • it hits for nothing, you do not really need to block this attack
    • it even hits hard even on block, you better block it or dodge it (the heavy attack of the last boss BF hits even on block for ~20k)

    Gear:

For dungeons it is not really that important and especial a new tank you should just wear whatever helps with tanking the most and just go all sturdy. I still would drop the sets you are using for something more useful for tanks. Also with so many sorcs in your grp you do not really need IA, since concussion from lightning damage is the same debuff.

    Try
    • 5xEbon Armory (which gives a lot of hp for you and everyone in your group also 1k hp)
    • 5xwhat ever helps you to survive/resource management or even master s&b (maybe try leeching, Black Rose, or what ever you like)
    • 2xmonster helmet - you could try: Earthgore Set if you need some o-*** heals, Engine Guardian still good for resource managenet, Sentinel of Rkugamz ... - just take what you like the most

If you are more experience you could drop the more selfish sets and go for sets that help your group with higher dps (torug's pact, alkosh,...).

Ice Furnace: This item set now grants Spell Damage, rather than Weapon Damage for the 4 piece bonus

I haven’t played my sap tank since I got Earthgore, but that’s a great idea. A burst heal is exactly what NB tanks lack. I guess Refreshing Path would prob it too without needing to target an enemy. I’ve also noticed that Sap Essence seems to heal even when there are no enemies around you, which seems kinda strange.

Your gear choice is intresting, but IA is defeninatly not a good choice for a tank. You might want to try getting barharas curse set in jewelry and s/b.(armor works just as well btw) you could also try running seducer instead of twice born for magicka sustain which will help you maintain your health with HoTs. Monster set could be better, but to be honest, run what ever you think helps you and your group out. I personally run blood spawn for ult gen or the chain mimic set.

You may also want to try looking up someone's build and comparing it to what you have to see if you can modify you build. I personally don't think any of the arena s/b sets are worth using
