Several Gripes I Have

Hello, all, Lord Arena25 back in the house after a 5-month hiatus.

Not to needlessly talk about myself in the third person, but Lord Arena25 over the past week has had a few...grievances. Lord Arena25 is going to list them here. And Lord Arena25 will set aside anything related to any events regarding the #10MillionSweepstakes (including but not limited to, the current ongoing grouping bug and Crown Crates).

Gripe #1: Dungeons with Dungeon Finder go by too quickly

Lord Arena25's biggest gripe is that in the 2 groups he;s been in so far via Dungeon Finder, the group kills everything way too quickly. (which, yes, there's such a thing as small sample size, especially considering Arena25 has never stepped foot in an instanced dungeon for various reasons, but that's neither here nor there)

When Arena25 gets into a dungeon via dungeon finder, the other players are going so fast through the dungeon it's like every time Arena25 blinks the group has suddenly killed another boss. Lord Arena25 was in a City of Ash I group last night (to see what Dungeon Finder was about before jumping into the sweepstakes the next day) and it was...exhausting. Lord Arena25 literally could've probably just sat at the entrance and the other 3 would've cleared the dungeon no problem. In fact, Lord Arena25 felt more like a liability than an asset to the group.

Today, Arena25 did another dungeon via Dungeon Finder, this time Wayrest Sewers 1, and again, Lord Arena25 was exhausting himself trying to catch up. The only time the group paused was to pass a votekick of an AFK dps. Lord Arena25 literally barely had time to pick up loot before the group suddenly was on to the next fight.

Now, Lord Arena25 does not care if people do speed runs in dungeons, but for Akatosh's sake, some people are still learning the ropes.

Gripe #2: Alchemy Is Too Easy

Back when Arena25 took a hiatus (about 2 weeks after Morrowind's global launch), alchemy wasn't as easy as it is now. Nowadays, if 2/3 reagents won't mix at all, it'll tell you those reagents are inert and won't mix. If they do mix, it'll say unknown properties.

Seriously? What's wrong with experimentation in alchemy? Alchemy back in the day was so exciting and mysterious, and while Lord Arena25 definitely was not a master at finding traits, he had fun while doing it. Now, it seems like any idiot can pick up alchemy and succeed in a matter of hours, not days, and the fact the game tells you reagents won't mix before you even craft potions/poisons takes all the fun out of alchemy...and also takes all the experimentation that used to be a part of alchemy out of the equation too. Are players so scared of being like that idiot apprentice in that alchemy textbook that Zeni made a near-foolproof system? You might as well give 100% chance for clothing/woodworking/blacksmithing improvements if you're going to do to alchemy what Zeni did.

***************************************************

Those are Lord Arena25's biggest gripes. Arena25 may list more later, but for right now Lord Arena25 needs food. Feel free to discuss.

Arena25 out!

Signed,

Lord Arena25

You realize that the game is catered in such a way as to make it open and understandable to all different types of people right? Adding in additional complexity in some areas is needed, but not in the daily chores people have to do (writs)

You have to remember this is still a game, we should have more complexities in systems that are fun (such as housing) that people can enjoy that doesn't affect real time gameplay for PvE and cyrodill.

We already have MORE than enough grinding and time spent farming gold, gear, traits, special required items for crafting (furniture) upgrade materials, etc... We don't need to make everything spent as a chore. We should have a healthy balance of it. Having to much complexity to every system is taxing and boring.

I like being able to spend time in game enjoying it after working 9 hours a day instead of farming and choring over everything. And I put good money into the game to help keep it that way.
