If the enemy dies after you cast Meteor but before it lands, the impact doesnt happen at all. For example, I dont get the bonus ulti points from Shooting Star nor the lingering AOE effect afterward.

    I have died to that several times. I AM holding block, but I get the full dmg and the knockback, so I die...
