Free crown crates remind me why I won’t buy crown crates.

I want to start off by saying that these were a free item and I do appreciate that. I’m not mad at all and have no sour grapes about what I got.

There are quite a few items i really want in this batch. More so than any time before. But with my three crates I got a purple lipstick to match my blue from dwarves crates, and a dress. I have 8 male charicters and will never use these. This is in addition to a bunch of useless potions, Scrolls, food , and mimic stones.

Had these rewards be offered for sale in the crown store I would have deffinatly bought a flame atro horse. I would have most likely bought the skin and some of the hats. Depending on how much all that cost me, I may even buy a couple of the costumes too.

But since I’m more likely to get what I don’t want than I am to get what I do want, my wallet and my crowns are going to stay right we’re they are.

Please consider adding these items for outright purchase.

If they were for outright purchase, there would be no point to buy the crates, no? Better to do away with the crates in the first place.

Nah, nobody would buy the crates at all if you could buy them outright. It's not worth the risk.

I recommend to most people to not actively go for the apex mounts or worse the ultra rare only crate mounts, I tried on the harvest crates to get the plague horse and after 200 crates I still hadn't even got all the costumes, I ended up with several hundred gems so ended up buying all the things that I hadn't already got and said *** it to the apex mounts and my dreams of seeing that beast.
My main stopping point was the dude who posted about opening close to 1000 crates and never seeing the Plague Horse, even getting a duplicate of one of the other "ultra, super, mega, rare only in lootbox" *(tm) mounts.

Was largely indifferent to the prizes in the crates
Freckled Guar was the only thing with any real appeal for me
did not receive one in my free crates

got a Mages Guild Sentry Cat
which is kind of cute, and nice due to not having any cat pets yet
a Flame Pixie emote, and some Mage's Guild robes

Converted all the rest of the consumables into gems and got myself the Guar
no more interest in the crates
chalk it up to a win this month

none of the mounts look like anything any of my characters would ever actually ride
really not clear on the appeal of the elemental skins for people
may have bought the Cyrod Patrician Formal Gown had it been in the regular store, but no desire for it otherwise

The OP's logic is incredibly flawed. If he would have pulled a fancy mount from a crate, would he now be talking about how wonderful they are? The outcomes from 3 crates should have no impact on your views of the crates. Your views should be based on the overall probabilities, which suck.

If the odds for the desirable stuff were really favorable, some people would still get a sack of rocks at times.

    I’m right here you know.

And no, it wouldn’t have changed my mind. I want the horse. Not the bear, or the calmel, wolf, senche, or guar. I don’t want to “step right up and test your luck”
I just want to buy the horse. And maybe a couple other items if the price is right.

ZOS has zero incentive to put these mounts up for sale on their own because they generate more revenue by placing them at the end of a stick which very few players ever capture. Even if the mounts were priced at 6000 crowns like the (white) elk mount from many months ago, that is far less revenue than is generated by people buying hundreds of crates simply for a chance at receiving the mount.

Until people stop buying these crates with their reward rates that even shady Atlantic City casinos would consider unfair, then ZOS will never allow these mounts to be purchased with crowns. I suppose contacting your representatives in Congress is also an option.

Yes, getting an cool mount from free crates is very cool.
However knowing it will cost you 60 crates of 14K crowns in average will discourage most from gambling.
That is unless this has been nerfed.

You will get one blue or better item each round, but yes the issue is that you will get stuff you don't need.
I either have or don't realy need any of the 16 or 40 gem items and 3 items 100 gem is stuff I would buy for 2K crowns. but not 10K for an decent chance of getting some of them.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

More importantly, a small percentage of people bring in the vast majority of money. Exclusivity is a decent part of what draws that percentage.

People should look at it this way. The game is literally changed to cater to a small percentage of the player base and if you aren't in that percentage, your value is solely as environmental fluff. The only time what you think matters is when most players feel the same way and it's a big enough issue to result in a population problem.

I would bet real money that every post from every whale in these forums is instantly tracked and evaluated, while most everyone else is ignored.

It's sad they make the chances so low just to extort more money.

Crates would be awesome if they were fair. And REMOVE THE JUNK

Sadly those spending thousands do ruin t for us. I'm eso plus that used to be enough...15 a month got you everything in game.

this is funny! i mean, not "funny haha" but a really interesting idea. too hard to automate, i think, but someone browsing for other reasons could have a special flag to check. it would take a particular set of skills to match some of these forum accounts to their game accounts, but i assume enough people give up enough info to cross-reference. i'm sure i do.

I got a pocket mammoth, imperial officer uniform, mage guild dress robe, a rebreather cowl, and a flame facepaint. Not a bad haul really, but (1) nothing I'd buy willingly, except perhaps for the cowl, and (2) it could've been so much better if the crates weren't stuffed with useless consumables. I guess they are supposed to be a consolation prize, but they give me no consolation of any sort.... all they do is annoy me.

The crates would be so much better deal if they got rid of the lowest two tiers of "rewards".

This is why the game needs to go back to subs only. They could then eliminate Crown Crates and make everything purchasable with Crowns. They would make more money (I'm guessing) and we might even get a more mature player-base.

Its called luxury items. Anything luxurious in life will cost money. And nobody in the gaming industry forces anybody to buy anything its all freedom of choice. I myself am lucky enough to buy 24 crown crates i got a mount but no skin.

as for the being able to purchase directly i disagree. Skins are supposed to be a rare/achievement i always believe you should earn every skin you get.

Buying skins overall shouldnt be a thing but since it is im glad its a rare item that not everyone will have.

Zos likes to keep things exclusive. Even though they recycle old crown store items into the crown crates they still dont come around very often.

They sold the first skin back when ic came out 2 years ago. There is no crown crate RNG achievement. so I’m not sure where you’re coming from on this one.

I don’t disagree with you on the fact that skins shouldn’t be sold. But hiding it behind an RNG like some shady character playing Three Card Monte on a New York street corner doesn’t make it better.

Where do you get gems from? Crates? If so.......then no. You can't outright purchase them, you still have to buy crates.

If gems do not come from crates, then yes indeed, you did get him.

    Edited to add:

i always believe you should earn every skin you get.

Getting skins in crates isn't "earning" them, it's buying them. Earning skins would imply that you get them by accomplishing things in game, like say....achievements?

I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.
