Recently I watch "Sea of Thief" gameplay and I really eager to sail my ship to the sea, fight with ghost ship, pirate and looking for valuable treasure inside Tamriel. I think the gameplay of "Sea of Thief" is quite similar with ESO , and will be great if Zos can make it happen.

ESO engine isn't built for that kind of gameplay.

FFXIV wasn't built with diving and swimming in mind. Heck wasn't even built with flying in mind having in mind that their vanilla zones are completely flat, but they still put those features in an expansion :)

The devs just have to decide to code for it. They talked about it early on in an ESO live back in 2014 or was it 2015? Time is a fickle substance.

They have about half the land map still to do. I can't see sailing a ship to be exciting at all. It would basically be a completely different game which could be fine in theory, but would be a ton of work and a huge gamble to see if ESO and Elder Scrolls players in general even care enough about it to make it worth the investment. My guess is no.

I would love to hunt down some evil Sload necromancers or learn more about the Dreugh. The fight against the Maormer sea serpent was fun and I'd love to stir up some trouble for them too. Or get some background on Nerieds. Maybe see some new sea monsters or Daedric sharks or something...

IMO this feature would be in simple patches. They would hire new separate team to do this (as they should do on other topics). For example redisign zones, data files, patcher, etc.

Swimming? You know, It is good, but that is mean nothing. Swim don't bring +100 hour gameplay.
ZOS could learn from they mistake (we all know the TESO's past). I hope they can again and I hope we will got richer Chapter Two.

I've hoped to see the Dreughs' castles of glass and coral ever since I read about them in the 36 Sermons. Not to mention how I'd like to learn more about Lyg and about the link between Molag Bal and the Dreughs.

    ...Assassin's Creed Black Flag??

Why, yes. Yes, I would like to see that in ESO. Especially the sea shanties. "What shall we do with a drunken Bosmer" is bound to be a great hit.

Seriously, any major change in or addition to existing gameplay is going to run into the finance problem. I.e. to do it, you need to invest a lot of resources, i.e. people, who need to be paid (that's how IT project budgets generally work, in terms of employees and time allocated). What return on this investment, pray tell, can ZOS expect? Will they get 50k brand new subs because they've now added a maritime component to the game? Will the existing subs spend 20% more in the crown store? I mean, what? How do you justify this to a) your direct managers, who have to worry about the money side of things, and b) the finance guys who own the whole company and, most of them, probably haven't ever even played video games outside of Candy Crush on their phones?

So yes, lots of things I'd like to see in the game, but realistically, I would not advise holding one's breath.

I truly believe a tottaly free PVP and PVE zone without faction and a lot of huge sea world boss will attract a lot of player. You and your crew can sail your ship, do whatever you want, kill whoever you want, compete to become king pirate or trade lord. Decore and upgrade your own battle ship (Decoration battle ship will make Zos rich), fight with huge monster, finding treasure etc... That amount of content definitely consume more than 100 hours to play. And it will make argonian swimming passive make sence.

Mh Tamriel "unlimited" could include the oceans too, but must not. :p

Would be interesting like underwater-swimming (as in Skyrim), but I think they told in one of the ESO-Live Shows, that it's hard to realise.

I'd be a bit wary of asking the devs to do a seriously major thing like that to the game engine, considering they need months (years?) to fix things like damage calculation for certain bugged skills.

I really miss diving from original games.

Anyway, I would rather prefer them to add at least all those zones which were already released in previous games, but are still missing here. Adding diving alongside it in already available zones would be cool tho.

Any plans to add wall scaling/climbing? Would be an adventure all in its self, scaling buildings to climbing into a room you can't from the ground. Find something on top of a mountain, more random caves for spelunking? Ninja like stuff and all that.

    Not particularly.

I want to see the rest of Tamriel before moving further afield. Might be nice to be able to ride small boats in the way you can in Assassin's Creed Origins though!

Probably not open-world enough to do this that well though :-(.

I desperately want to be able to explore under the oceans and sail across the open seas. I would absolutely love a water based chapter. I understand the engine was not "built" for that.. I don't care... they need to fix that mess and give us the ability to swim under water and explore the vast oceans that Tamriel has.

i hear that. i was thinking that it almost seems weird that racial descriptions really tout the seamanship of certain races (Redguards, Nords, others?) but to my knowledge it hasn't been explored in any TES games. but then i realized, how hard would it be to make sailing fun in a videogame? it would either be a tediously boring way to travel, or such a hassle that everybody would want a workaround. i *** adore driving a boat in real life, but don't want to try sailing in a game. weird how fishing is the opposite.

There is a quest in the Daggerfall side where you do fight on a ship, kill sea serpents, fire cannons, etc.\
If they can do it in a quest, why not more?
