harvesting raws- a small issue

pvp competition is the reason i play this game.

so when i harvest raw materials i usually don't really feel like competing. I'm just curious... why doesn't everyone have their own resource nodes? Zos was able to give us our own loot, im just wondering why not nodes too. this is really not that big of a deal, its just always bothered me. is there some reason i don't know about? is it to keep any one person from becoming too rich? to discourage some sort of bot or addon that harvests nonstop? personally i'd prefer to have my own nodes, so i wouldnt be forced to cut off some other harvester by running up ahead of him. i've had plenty of experience with salty people from pvp, but i've gotten in some surprisingly ugly and negative confrontations while harvesting raws to sell or refine.

also sometimes i just want to put my mouse down and take a sip of my drink without worrying im going to miss out on the nodes right in front of me.

I hate it too but thinks it's unlikely to get fixed, it would encourage a stupid meta with everyone in one zone causing endless amounts of lag, would also affect the resource market drastically reducing cost wich might not be bad, they could balance that by reducing resources per node.

It's not too hard to avoid by just doing some harvesing in the early mornings if you ever get the time to.

Also try to stay away from the botting-train zones. No matter when it seems, some bots are always node camping.

you can have your own nodes. its called skyrim.
so you're looking at nodes, and thinking i'll leave them there while i have a drink, and then wonder why they get taken by someone else?

Because for some reason people think that playing with lots of other people must automatically mean playing against them, as if competing for every single little thing is the only way to interact with others.

I have never liked fighting for nodes or grind spots, but this is how MMOs are made, better learn how to be fast than become furious ;)

I mean, if you're experiencing a lot of competition just try moving to another zone? The only place I really have to 'compete' for nodes is Craglorn, and that's when I'm farming nerdcrux because it's the only zone that has it. Otherwise I have farming routes on a few different maps, depending on traffic. Deshaan's my favorite but can get crowded. Eastmarch is usually a ghost town though, and I find the atmosphere pleasant (if a bit chilly)

I hate competing for nodes as much as the next guy, I don’t play this game to compete with other people. But it would be unreasonable for us to get our own nodes. If your having issues, just move to another area, works a treat.

again, this is not that big of a deal, like i said. i am not having problems with the current system. i know great spots to harvest (which are also not overpopulated). i have some of the best gear in the game for harvesting on one of my toons.

im not sure why people read my post then automatically think i dont understand how to avoid crowds or gear my toons. i can harvest just as effectively as anyone in the game (as if its hard *facepalm*... see how people are already acting competitive over HARVESTING.. im not sure how people could possibly get competitive over running from one spot to another in eso). i have no problem with competing for mobs in pve, and i never said anything like that, so i dont know why people think im against all competition. Im not. we are talking about harvesting nodes here, and i am just giving my thoughts.

this is the my question though.... why? why is it unreasonable? then is it unreasonable that we have our own loot drops when we are grouped in a dungeon?

This, i often do some questing in the morning or odd hours but you end up more farming instead as its so much materials around.
And yes take detours, the route between wayshrines and quest locations are empty.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Because ZOS hasn't told all of the developers that they are working on a multi-player game.

Some of them understand it is multi-player, but some of them think they are designing for a single-player game. Hence we get many features in the game that are designed only for one player to experience, while all the other players in the area, stand around and wait for their own experience to happen after a forced cool-down/respawn period or simply miss out entirely.

This is a feature that is working normally.

It will help you if you think of ESO as a single-player game with several exciting multi-player modes and instances available to experience at no extra cost (such as watching another player take the resource or quest node that you were trying to pick up, but couldn't because a nearby mob attacked you, the first player who got to the node).

    Hope that helps.

It would add substantially to ZOS' database size. Instead of tracking the state of every node they would have to track the state of every node multiplied by their player base. I obviously don't have the numbers, but that could be huge.

I do believe node respawn rate is affected by the number of players in a zone, but I can't remember where or when I read that.

As a PvPer I farm bosses in IC. Apothecary parcels cover my needs. Excess gets sold. Materials get bought. I don't do writs, I never farm resource nodes, and I have 3M gold in the bank. Money comes from selling Hakeijo, alchemy potions or ingredients, and gold jewelry from the weekend vendor. I do spend freely on gold tempers and Kuta, but I only gold out my weapons and enchants.

Farming is so much better now than it was before 1t. Then you only had the dlc zones and cyrodill to farm for ruby mats. It Was like double mats in wrothgar all the time except no double mats.

WoW changed this in legion, nodes are now shared for several minutes from the time they are first gathered before despawning. It's not a terrible system, really. Really decreases zone toxicity... except for skinning/leatherworking characters. Can still only skin an animal once.

I also think GW2 and Wildstar both have individual nodes, but it's been a while since I've played either.

Yes its something that should be done. Other MMOs (like Tera for example) use this practice and is quite effective and more player friendly not to mention makes makes material gathering not feel like a steep uphill-grind
