have the option to gift something from the crown store to another player for example if I new someone who wanted the the new wolf mount but they ran out of crowns and couldn't afford it but I got it in the crown crates I should have the option to send it to that player or if I just bought and had to the option to send it to that player ZOS still gets there money and everyone is happy. (y/n)?

*Is suddenly reminded of BDO, where zone chat is filled with requests to trade in-game items for pearl (crown store equivalent) items*

I expect a pretty gigantic uproar if it ever happens in ESO. At least those who realize what it will mean.

Although your gifting idea is noble, it would enable for the the opposite to happen - it is essentially activating a pay-to-win system.
Also it would make account hacking much more lucrative as you could use their crowns to help your main account.

This is similar to what happened to Arche Age.

The decline of that game was epic, and it had a lot of good elements to it (still does). ESO is already in decline, you can see it with the server performance which usually happens to MMOS year 3-5 along with the cash shop and PVEwhales that come in. You know the people that whine about more housing slots etc.

So this will inevitably happen its just a matter of when really. Eventually everything will be for sale as the game progresses. I mean what do you think the 10th anniversary is going to look like?

IIRC They had a similar system going a few months back, where you could gift crown items. It was tested on a small group of players by invitation only, but I believe you could request being a part of the program with a support ticket.

Wouldn't it be easier to make crowns marketable? That way, you could easily buy missing amount from other players for gold.

The problem is its open to abuse. And a method of transmuting real world cash into in game goodies.

Now buying someone a crown voucher i would do. As a gift.

You can already gift crown store items. Even crate items once you're won/purchased them.

You can also ask customer service to purchase items for you with your existing crown balance if you're going to be away during a limited offer.

So it's a bit moot to debate it.

Note: I edited out identifying details in this one because it was an anonymous gifting and I would like to keep it that way.

    It's still gifting.

You go through customer service for the gifting and the concierge service. That's the system ESO has and will likely never be incorporated into the user interface.

I doubt if i get an item from the crown crates it will ever be gift-able, as that would go against gamble boxes basis. That stuff is bound and auto converted to gems when double for a reason. They want everyone to gamble for the things they want, not pool resources as that would mean less boxes are needed to be sold for everyone to get what they want. Also people could then sell it for in game gold.

If you buy a store crown item and want it for someone else, I doubt costumer service is happy with processing the requests to send it to another player for every pet and other small thing or even big thing. I doubt if you count manhours, then compared to crown income for Zos for the item that needs to be processed, it cuts on profit margin big time, might even be a loss for lower cost items.
So I'd say gifting still isn't possible except in round-a-bout way for special occasions through costumers service. They said in the above case, this month and it also seemed for a select set of items (temporally and expensive ones?)... so it's not something standard/wanted for everything obviously.

A gifting system would be nice. But i do see the pitfalls and dangers of it too. Basically you can also say that would make a buy crowns for in game gold system, as you can pay other people then to "gift" you crown items. GW2 has that, Rift too I believe but both also had means to earn store currency with in game gold. So gifting seems just to build upon that. ESO has neither.

ZOS has been trialling a gifting program for the crown store for a while now. You have to request to join in and it's a case by case thing so there is no guarantee you'll be able to join it.

No it wouldn't, because the items being gifted still would be only cosmetic items that don't help your game in any way, like mounts that all have the exact same stats as every other mount, and costumes that don't do anything except look nice. How is that pay-to-win? You wouldn't be able to sell the crown crate items, just give them away.

Gifting wouldn't necessarily lead to any impact on the trading system if there is never an inventory item that is added to the gifter. If they set up a gifting system it could easily be "put in gift recipient's account name, confirm payment, item is sent to gift recipient". No need for the gifter to ever even see it outside of the store. That's how I was given my first subscription in LOTRO by another player, and my first batch of store cash, too. The donor never had the codes, it was all handled by the store to be sent directly to me. And if an old game like LOTRO can do it, ESO can do it.

Quick, someone start a rumor that certain forum posters are actually ZOS employees. For science.
