Ready Check for Normal Group question (NOT group *finder*)

I have a question about the ready check that can be initiated from your Group menu by hitting "P" and then hitting "F" to send out a ready check to each of your group members. If everyone accepts, you get a notification that everyone is ready. If one person declines, you get a notification saying that not everyone is ready (Note: I am not talking about the group finder's ready check).

Has this always been able to be initiated by anyone in the group, or is that a new change? I originally thought that this was only possible for the group leader to do, but now it seems that anyone can start a ready check. When my guild meets, spamming can be a problem if someone decides to be annoying and start meaningless ready checks while the officers try to type out announcements. I believe the ready check actually interrupts what you are trying to type.

Proposed fix: Make the current Group Leader the only person able to start a ready check, or at least make it possible for the group leader to toggle whether they are the only person who can start one, or whether anyone in the group can initiate a ready check. It's a useful feature, but I believe the group leader should have the ability to have complete control over ready checks and any notifications.

Side questions: Are there any examples when having the ability for everyone to start a ready check is useful, like for certain dungeon bosses? Has spamming ready checks ever been a problem for any of you? Would it be useful if the ready check notifications were enhanced to tell us: (1) who started the ready check, (2) how many people said yes and how many said no, or (3) who declined or didn't answer in time?

I rarely have people spamming it but i can see how it can get weird. It mostly annoys me that some people have found a way to change what the actual message says and can use it to display whatever they want. Not sure if it is some kind of script but seems like changing what a game message is telling you should not be that easy to change

It’s always been an action anyonecan do.

    And that’s good.

Because the group finder does not choose who is crown based on level or skill or any pattern I’ve been able to determine, nor is there any way to guarantee that is how crown is chosen in a player-formed group.

So don’t mess with the ability of anyone to initiate a ready check.

Yes, that happened to us too! The message I received said something like "Ready to cast a vote?" which I thought was very strange. Is that some kind of add-on that does that?

Ok, I see your point. When using the group finder to complete a dungeon, someone with less experience could be automatically given the crown. They would not know when the best time to start a ready check would be (before a big boss or something), so we want everyone to have the ability to do so. Would giving the group leader the ability to toggle who can start a ready check still be a bad idea?

I still think it would be better if we could at least see who started the ready check though. Right now it's anonymous, so we can't see who might be spamming it.

Also, what's to stop someone from joining up in the endless Dolmen train in a place like Alik'r and derailing everybody with nonstop ready checks? I hope that would be a report-able form of harassment or something else that isn't allowed.

I don't know if it is an add-on but it seems very likely.
