x2 1080 TI SLI.. nice performance but for ESO ?! :o

I am willing to bet that even if you will have gaming rig like one of these:

You will still have insane FPS drops (from 60 - 80 to like 20 - 5) in cyrodill and of course - lack of sound during big battles... ;)

The game supports SLI but even at 4K one 1080 Ti is more than enough. The game is CPU limited especially in populated areas. I have one Titan X Pascal and the GPU is rarely gets close to full load unless I am in a very low populated area and it is maxing at 100 frames per second.

    doesnt matter.
game can't even use a single gtx 1070 to the max potential anyways.
    Not even at 4k ultra.

Yes...I currently play with 2 GTX660 cards in SLI. I definitely notice a difference when SLI is disabled (usually happens when I do driver updates and forget to enable it again).

I also always run with shadowplay going in the background on a 5min rolling recording (does not affect my FPS at all). That way if something funny happens, or I find some bots, it's easy to hit that record button and instantly have the last 5 mins recorded.

For the newer cards GTX900 and above, it won't be worth it as those cards actually out-perform the game...Until ESO supports 4k at least.

This. And it's not a joke. :p There were actually multiple tests that showed that ESO performs best on a 1070, and 2/3/4x 1070 perform better than 2/3/4x 1080. It also showed that a single 1070 performs better than a single 1080 Ti for ESO. However, there were no tests for sli vs sli.

Out of the blue though, 2x 1080 Ti should perform better than a single 1070, especially with max settings and 4k.

P.S.: There is no explanation whatsoever why it is this way. It shouldn't be, but it is.

ESO had supported SLI from the start. I used it then. I dropped SLI for a Titan X Pascal though after lack of support or issues in other games.

Wait, nm, my bad, I was thinking of the 64bit client introduction. That didnt support it.

Ah that is probably true. When game launched it was 32 bit only. I forgot about that. I took a year break from the game so probably missed that period.

I have a GTX 1060 (6GB), and at 1080p the GPU usage never went above 50%. After realizing this I bumped it up to 2160p in order to actually use my modest GPU. It now hovers around the 80-90% mark, max settings for everything (and then some).

Long story short, crazy strong GPU's are wasted for ESO, but probably nice and quiet.

I have crossfire r9 290s and ESO doesn't support it very well; almost same performance between crossfire and single gpu, but crossfire is more prone to stutter and fps drops. So I disabled crossfire and get ok performance with lowered settings (4k).
