Wrothgar nodes not giving double

I farmed for a bit in Wrothgar today and to my surprise I was receiving 3s and sometimes 7 of any gathered armor/weapon type nodes.
Maybe my math is horrid but I'm sure double means a number plus its self.
So what whole number plus its self equals 3 or 7?
Are you telling us that we have been duped this entire time by math teachers?
Or did you really mean something else when you said "Double the items received from crafting nodes"
By the way I can get on upwards of 9 or more mats from nodes anywhere in the game.
