Obsession for MORE Power

Just wondering if there is people like my self who are obsessed with MORE PPOOOWWWEERR

Let me explain

Every day i log in is a quest for more POWER for me ... theory crafting new build trying new skills... VMSA to get lighting staff ...getting the right weight in monster helm / shoulders... running trials to get new sets in right trait , PVP to get exp to buy gold jewelry ..

I haven't actually stop to admire the scenery and smell the Columbine Its never ending quest to get more power to push my build to extreme to squeeze everything i can out of him, get the right balance even 2% more crit or 1000 more magica, 200 plus or minus more damage in skill line makes a huge deal to me and that is why i didn't finish any quest DLC i bought ...

Maybe after this double VMSA drop and once when i can try to let go of my obsession with the build when i know i can't push it any more i might take it easy and start enjoying questing the game once again.

So this made me think anybody else has this same obsession for more power ? Do you try to squeeze every ounce you can to make your character more powerful ? Or are you happy with the stats you have and are just enjoying the game and questing ect.

You are - what the community calls - a minmaxer. Squeezing every single number theoretically possible out of your character, and yes, you can focus on that goal so much that you eventually forget to enjoy the game in its ordinary manner - rather, you enjoy getting more and more powerful.

Like every other game, this one can be played in multiple ways. Some people only enjoy doing quests, some people won’t ever leave Cyrodiil, some people spend their days in different dungeons and trials, others only focus on amassing millions of gold, while some only enjoy RPing with others. And then there’s you and other players like you who enjoy minmaxing. There’s absolutely no problem with that. Only that people like you have a huge advantage in combat situations, whether it’s PvP or PvE, and it’s a tendency among minmaxers to expect everyone to reach similar numbers.

Just don’t brag about having over 9000 spell dmg, don’t call out others for not reaching their ultimate potentials character-wise and there shouldn’t be any problems. Giving tips is always welcome, but you’re not part of a master race for dealing 80k single target dps and as such, respect other people who focus on other aspects of the game, and you will be respected for helping people improving their stats.

Cheers and good luck on improving your build!

Dependent on the character I'm on. If I'm on my main I'm more and more about getting the right gear, more CP, trying actual builds the higher I've gotten it. My little alts - not so much. Spent an hour or so traipsing around Vulkhel Guard tonight fishing and taking in the scenery, doing a quest or two. When that one hits 50 it'll probably become more about power as well though. I definitely enjoy just riding around or fishing somewhere scenic for a while with no real aim.

i totally agree with you with that one and everybody should help others if they ask and not been elite and put others down and your right , others enjoy playing the game as they please what makes them happy the character they love and created if they want to improve they will ask or look up their class builds.

And your right about brag as well ..the thing is lol i don't like to talk about the build and what is capable of doing ive spend way too much time and money getting it to perfection so its kind of my unique build .. but if you ask i am more happy to tell

Like for example of my builds .... the best stam build i made a long long long LONG time ago and played with him for a very long time was Dreugh King Slayer, vicious ophidian and Velidreth with the right skill i pushed WP 4.8k ( no self buff) stam 35k crit 53% that was fun
what i loved about it nobody was running that combination and DKS gold rings back then were selling for 50k gold as DKS items were not BIS and as mentioned people didn't like it but that for me was amazing.

this is the kind of things im obsessed with it pushing the builds to the max stats so its good to see im not the only one here lol

And those who don't tend to complain the game is too easy. Opposite ends of the spectrum.

Those in the middle I guess are likely more happy.

Personally I would want more flavor rather then more power. I want to enjoy myself, and I will often take skills or gear sets that maybe are not as effective as some others just because they better suit my characters flavor...

And as long as I can get through stuff without too much difficulty, I am happy with not being "the most powerful". Heck, I even have all my character backstories that way - none of my characters are backstory wise all that special, just... a former rank and file archer turned bouty huntress, a former apprentice librarian turned sorceror, a former struggling blacksmith turned adventuress and so on...

But hey, each to their own.

You're definitely not the only one, I met several minmaxers out there and the reason why I told you about the bragging and stuff is because almost all of them did what I told you NOT to do - bragging about their accomplishments, and bashing on others when they are nowhere near them in terms of stats.

Actually this minmaxing.. subculture? Whatever it is, this section of a game's (especially an MMO's) community has always been there, in every MMO game, even from the very beginning, so don't feel like you're doing something wrong, it's just what you and others like you enjoy doing.

Humans like numbers. Numbers are tangible. Unlike "smelling the roses" and "RP the game/live the story", seeing numbers increase gives us a stronger sense of accomplishment.

It is the way the game is designed. It is the way our society is designed. We like to see a measure of value.

So in conclusion, in the grand scheme of things, we are all largely worthless and add no value to the universe in general. Nothing we do really matters outside of our short, limited perspectives.

    Hope you feel better now.
