Xbox cancelling the eso plus subscription service

So a guild mate of mine just explained to us that he was talking to an Xbox live support agent, and they mentioned that they were going to cancel the ESO plus subscription. They cited lack of interest in the service as the reason. Can anyone verify this information, or at the very least cite a similar statement being made to them?

I wouldn't necessarily trust players on the forum to answer this for you. Sounds like a question requiring an official ZOS response.

Bull. This sounds like someone was banned and is talking BS. Hope I am wrong.

Nope, he wasnt banned. He was calling support to help him fix an ESO plus issue and that was what the agent blurted out. The next agent he talked to stated they had no heard anything, but that can be taken many ways.

ESO+ as a service for the Xbox already exists in weird stage of limbo. When you have a problem with your ESO+ sub on Xbox and submit a ticket to ZoS support, they will tell you that Microsoft is supposed to handle all ESO+ issues. If you call 1800-4MY-XBOX and try to get help, they will try and tell you to contact ZoS support. Neither side seems to want to deal with it.

Last year(In June/16) in order to fix ESO plus issues I had to get Microsoft to cancel my Sub , then I had to re-sub. This was the instruction from ZOS to resolve the issue of ESO plus not being active in game even though you are a member.

@Defilted yeah can confirm i had to do that same thing when my ESO+ vanished a couple months back. Although for me, Microsoft suggested that as a fix not ZoS.

The first agent's comment can also be taken with a grain of salt. Wouldn't put it past someone who's frustrated with having to deal with ESO+ sub issues to make some off-hand comment. Also, it could be just water-cooler talk among support staff - some of them started talking about all the customers they've had to help with this issue and someone says they wouldn't be surprised if (or hopes that) MS just dropped it. And, it spins out from there.

Or, it could be that there is some sort of discussion among the MS powers that be, but it'd be strange if that kind of consideration would be found out by customer support staff.

Basically, no one here can answer that, but I'd be surprised if they just cancelled ESO+ on XB without offering alternatives (i.e. craft bag in CS) as I'd pretty much quit playing altogether if I had to go back to playing without the craft bag, double bank space, costume dying, etc. I can understand that they have probably lost subs due to the issues they've been having, but I can't see the solution being to drop it altogether.

But, this is my opinion and I haven't heard anything about this from any kind of official source, so who knows?

While my opinion has been for a long time to remove it entirely, I would be greatly overjoyed if it actually happened.

Even if they don’t align the benefits under buying crown packs, this would be good because it’s not in the Xbox store and is hidden. It’s also never worked as it should in addition to us not having the options that PC, STEAM, and PS4 have for multiple month bundles.

@ZOS_GinaBruno many assume this is bad information, however if changes are being considered, would you be in a position to comment or clear up any assumptions about the validity of the OP?
