Pets with Stamsorc

Just curious, is there any worth to running a stamsorc with pets like the Clannfear and the Twilight critter?

Edit: ANd while I'm here, is a lightening staff also not good for a stamsorc? Should I stick with the bow for range or rely on skills for ranged damage?

Pets scale from magicka (mostly) and are not good with stamina. Once you unlock surge or vigor you will be perfectly fine for healing and will have no need for a twilight matriarch.

Endless hail is one of the best abilities in the game for damage, and unlike blockade of storms from lightning staves it scales with your stamina and weapon damage. (Blockade of elements scales from magcika and spell damage)

Unless you're just wanting the clanfear for PvE solo tanking purposes, then no.

Both familiars scale of max magicka, of which you will have very little. True for heals and pet damage, both.

Yeah I'm just trying to focus on DPS, so good to know pets won't be good.

So ATM I have thunder staff and sword and shield, but thinking of switching to duel daggers in replace of sword and shield

Clannfear is good at low levels until you unlock critical surge and vigor. Afterwards you can drop it.

There's also a bound armor stamina morph under the Daedric Summoning skilltree, is that worth having?

Bound armaments gives minor resolve, 8% more stamina, 20% stam regen, 2% weapon damage and heavy attack damage. It's well worth a slot if you have one to spare (you do have to double bar it.)

I have two stamsorcs, and I agree with the others. Pets don't work well with stamina sorcs at all.
I use Crit Surge, then Hurricane and Razor Caltrops with the dual wield ability Whirling Blades, with Vigor as a heal. Caltrops and Vigor are PvP abilities you get in Cyrodiil, so even if you don't PvP, it's worth doing for a while to get those two abilities. This set up has great area-of-effect and damage-over-time abilities, so it works great in public dungeons where there are a lot of enemies surrounding you.

Hurricane is the stamina morph of Lightning Form. Whirling Blades is a morph of Whirlwind. I'm not claiming that what I use is the best of the best and 100% perfect for everyone, but it kills things super fast for me. There might be a better set-up out there for single targets, though, and I'm sure a lot of people will have other opinions about what would do better damage for a single target enemy.

I'd use bows over any staffs for stamina characters. I don't use Bound Armor, but I've heard that Bound Armaments (the stamina morph) is great to have.

Hmm okay, I basically just wanted a idea of what skills to aim for, but that armor one does sound good, I guess I'll switch to Duel Wield then to get those skills. Thanks guys, I'll run Clannfear (Since I have him already) and respec once I get Vigor or Surge unlocked.

I run a bow/bow stamsorc and am well familiar with using a clannfear to tank. The clannfear's health scales with your health so that is not a problem for a stamsorc. Clannfear damage scales with magicka but even that is not a problem since his only purpose is to tank. The problem becomes keeping the clannfear alive. A magsorc has no problem including their clannfear in their magical shielding and efficiently healing the clannfear via either the clannfear and/or matriarch heals. The problem with the clannfear for a stamsorc is that a stamsorc lacks the magic and healing power to keep the clannfear alive. With all that factored in, I no longer run the clannfear.

Though Vigor is a fine stam heal, after using it, I went back to Dark Deal as my primary heal - it provides both health and stam.

Key to a stamsorc is high crit % chance (over 50) along with running Crit Surge and Hurricane.

Stam sorc is fun. I run a pet when I solo a dungeon it keeps the pressure off , but its a hassle.
I run crit surge, hurricane , Dw on,front bar.

Bow on back bar. I like running bound armaments as I run hundings and draugers.

It would be awesome if attribute damage scaling wasn't in the game because then you could presumably more effectively use pets on a stamina build.

I despise the stamina/magicka divide because cool skills are weakened and sometimes not worth slotting because of attribute scaling.

My healplar grouped recently with a very unusual hybrid sorc. DW swords and plenty of DW melee skill usage, Crit Surge + Hurricane, medium armor, scamp and twilight pets, resto on back bar, 29K health. Very unusual indeed, but damage was adequate and she was very tough - easy for my healer to keep up and alive.

There was a time I actually used DW + lightning staff on a hybrid sorc and had a lot of fun with it. Dw for single target and the staff for the AoE. If you know what you're doing and not having a problem taking longer to complete dungeons it's still fine to run such a set up.

But it's nowhere near as easy or fast as a full blown mag or stam build. And sadly the clannfear is nothing but a tank pet at best. Dmg scales with magicka, heal & health with your own health, and on top it deals physical damage. Last time I checked it also wasn't boosted by CP. So better use the advice other people already gave and use surge/ vigor or dark deal for healing.
