Fishing A New Idea

I have been thinking about Fishing recently I have just cleared the Master Angler and working on the DLC Angler Achievements and then what what does my fisherman have to do and why?

The Basic Idea:
A fishing daily I see an old fisherman sent to to catch fish for his family but what he wants to catch magnificent fish like he used to so here is the deal you catch him some fish and he will catch you something as a prize. I am thinking a tiered quest.

For example: Catch 5 Slaughterfish for a basic reward, 5 slaughterfish and 2 Foul Green Fish for a medium reward and 5 slaughterfish 2 Green and 1 blue foul fish for top tier reward.

Reward Ideas: Basic rewards would give you rare fishing baits the ones in game or new ones with a slightly increased chance, medium reward you get the bait and a basic furnishing item such as reeds, water lilies, coral etc., Top Tier Rewards would include animated furnishing items such as a fishing spot, insects, frogs, fish and occasionally perfect roe.

So what do you think is this something you would spend time on?

P.S. I know there are other priorities for both the game and content but that's not what this thread is for, I want to know who would do this content if it was available.

It has potential, though if they are zone specific, certain zones have very few spots for certain kinds of water. I would not do them for a chance at the rarer caught baits, because those have no effect on whether or not you catch the rarer fish.

I was thinking by water type rather than zone as it is a daily. The baits would be a bottom tier reward but I would like to hear more reward ideas.

Working on my 3rd Master Angler - I can get behind this idea!

Reward idea, give a container that randomly gives some of the following:
-bait (both tiers)
-random materials like the ones going in Wet Gunny Sacks
-perfect roe
-Specific fish and water related housing items only available via the quest.

Give the quest some achievements and let the quest giver also be an achievement vendor for fishing related housing items. The boat available now would be moved to his store naturally.

I would like to see a passiv buff to those who took their time to get master angler:

* With Master Angler achievement equipped/acquired, gain an X % extra chance to extract perfect roe from "refining" fish.

Fishing dailies sounds kind of neat actually. I like where this idea is going.

A cool reward would be a fish on a plaque house furnishing. Make it gold rare.

Another thing would be fishing costume..so you can look the part.

Fishing really does need something. It's the only reason why my game isn't Platinum.

The number of spots of water type actually don't matter terribly much. When I was fishing in the Rift and going after River fish, there was always a spot up. You just had to find it.

And because there are fewer spots, that actually made fewer holes to check to find the one that was live.

fishing rly is just an achievment hunt atm.
So adding in a little diversity to it by adding dailies seems nice.

However for the rewards i'd rather like a token system then furnishings (yes another token since there arent enough already^^)
So for completing the dailie on "easy" you'd get 1 token, and for completing it on "difficult" you'd get 2 token.

Ideas for token trader:

Housing Items as you already suggested.

Rare fishes from different zones. (so if you're unlucky and fished in CWC for 12h strait and haven completed your fishing achievment, cause of 1 fish. then you coul dbuy this fish at this trader)

Perfect roe

maybe special bufffood that increaes your chance for getting rare fish in certain waters. (like "bangkorai's fouled fishstew" -> increases the chance of catching rare fish in foul waters.)

Special baits which further increase catch chances in certain waters, maybe 5-10% better then normals bait.

As 1 who does fish often I like the idea of a daily fishing quest. Give fishing some more meaning other than getting perfect roe and working for achievements

After doing the master angler title I refuse to go near water and fish ever again. But for the people that just love to torture themselves with the most boring and poorly executed portion of the game I can support this.

Fishing is always boring even in real life..it's about other things. Like relaxing..enjoying the outdoors and friends.

this is a good idea- but they should make fishing a daily quest like undaunted or crafting.

itd be fun and competitive that wya too- make it a leader board also- a daily fish catch comp, etc.

give ,motifs and costumes and another title and this game will go elder fishing online in no time

I dont need anymore competition for perfect roe. Its bad enough when some noob comes along and sees me fishing and just has to plop his pole, armed with the wrong bait, in the same hole im using. Im a friendly player. I dont mind sharing, but maybe ask first or at least wave or say hi or comment on the weather. I never fish other players’ holes.

Also what is with all this need for extra rewards? Do players really need to be coaxed and validated into doing content? What happened to just playing the game for enjoyment? I use fishing to explore and enjoy the scenery. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t also doing it to get materials to make potions, but thats secondary.

Leave fishing to those who actually enjoy it rather than a bunch of weekend warriors taking up all the best spots for some fancy pixels or bragging achievements, imo. You could always make up your own fishing daily goals. I dont think the developers should have to do everything for you in that regard.

Sorry for sounding like a selfish jerk, this was just the reaction I had when reading through the thread. I dont mean to belittle anyone here, because most are good, interesting ideas.

This would get me back into fishing.

For rewards maybe a rare chance for a pet (mudcrab, frog, etc) or a fishing polymorph or costume. Along with the regular stuff like bait, fishy recipes, fishing related furnishings, food, stacks of fish, xp, gold, etc.

Could even make it like the writs and randomly award a fishing survey that leads you to a special instanced fishing hole with "improved" gunny sacks, trophy fish, maybe even a perfect roe of youre lucky.

That one holiday fishing quest was beautiful. I forget when event it was for, Christmas time maybe? But seeing that many people fishing at once was great.

There really does need to be fishing quests and dailies etc. Maybe costumes you can create with pieces you fish out? Different levels of rods?

I fish EVERYDAY because i'm working on master angler (I'm envious of everyone who has that title). I sincerely do enjoy it as well. Sure a reward would be nice but if not that's cool too, not going to stop me.

I love the fishing in the game and was actually talking to someone the other day that a potion to "lure" fish would be nice. Or rather to allow you to get better quality of fish. There is some really beautiful coral I have seen - not the gold one another one that's I think is purple and pink. I bought it random from a guild trader and wish I could have another one. I would SIT IN THE OCEAN to get this one.

Some sort of crazy large fish would be nice lol. I would never have thought of a fishing armour set or a skin maybe. I would ROCK the fish scales. But some other type of furniture fish would be nice. Like that freakin' blob fish I think its the cutest and would love it on display. Or even like a fish statue that would be cool.

Of course there is lots of things in the game I haven't even seen yet so who knows maybe its already out there and I just haven't come across it.

A top tier reward, a hard-to-get one could be the Nereid's scaly skin. I really wouldn't mind to have my character look like a shiny merman-like creature. Or be able to buy a house-ship with in-game gold.
