Viper's a DoT now, so who's using it again/still?

Making the damage proc a DoT over 4 seconds now seems interesting, and since now its effected by Thaum, imma try it on my Stamknight.

Who else is using it/has been. How's it faring in the world of end game DPS?

Nope, pretty much useless now in PvP. Easily out healed by the tank healer meta

I think the OP is asking about PvE. If your tooltip is 6400 over 4 seconds, that is 1,600 DPS. This doesn't seem to be that good of a 5pc bonus compared to other options (hundings, briarheart, TFS, NMG, sunder, etc.). However, if you have low DPS and struggle with your rotation while dealing with mechanics, viper will give you more DPS than other options because it's a guaranteed DoT every four seconds. As you get better, you'll be able to pull more DPS using other options.

I've been wearing viper with Dual axes assasins guile and skoria with a vMA two hand axe on the back bar. It's not that OP of a build but it is rather fun. I use it in PvP mostly with the dual drain health poisons. Just load up the DoTs on someone and then leap them at around 60% health into and execute.

Templars are the hardest to kill obviously but you can easily get more than five DoTs on them and they wont be able to remove them all with purify.

I think they made all the danage a dot. But forgot to boost the danage DUE to it being a dot...

For example, my overwhelming surge has a 15k tooltip over 6 seconds....whats viper? I betcha no where near that... my overwhleming is 2700 per second.

Tooltip I believe is 6k over 4 secs, which can be modified.

Your overwhelming as is posted is 2.5k dps, while viper as I posted is 1.5 dps. With thaum and the other will come close to your overwhelming dps.

They are very close in dps.

Ive got my Vipers tooltip at 8270 over 4 seconds. That seems like a pretty decent amount over a short time with its uptime. But letting it crit would make it a ton better...zos...
