Recycled Holiday Events?

So, I was thinking for a bit just now and just realize... Zenimax, are you guys seriously gonna keep recycling the same things every year for each event? The Witches Festival being the same thing as the years before it isn't honestly fun. Sure, I'm fine with the skulls coming back every year, as well as other things for the other holidays, but why always recycle the same quest? The same borderline stuff? I mean, I get. We know you guys are lazy due to the recycled animations, recycled enemies, and many more things but can't you guys really not think of anything new to do with each holiday? No need quests comes to mind? Nothing?

Eh... It's what makes the holiday events fun, in my honest opinion. The quests. I just did the Halloween Quest of 2017 for RuneScape, which is an MMORPG I don't even play anymore (I just get on to do the holiday events and see what's going on in that game), yet every year it at least has something new and different for each holiday and that brings some good memories. Since every year is a new quest, you always get different memories and enjoyment each year, never the same old grind for experience or chance of a reward. You just enjoy a new quest only for that holiday, get the unique rewards of that year from it, and enjoy the rest of the event... I have a lot of good memories personally from the holiday events of this old game, and waz hoping that maybe Zenimax could do something similar, and offer brand new content every year for each holiday, rather than just recycling the same stuff every year...

Argh. I guess this is mostly just a stupid rant than anything. Anyways, anyone else think similarly or does no one else really care that much for the holidays?

As someone who missed the event the first time I was highly appreciative of them bring it back as was.

Also it's not uncommon for MMO games to use the same events every year but just change them to have additional new rewards.
I mean the "content" part of the events each time is what, one intro quest the it's just about farming. The long quest lines are in the DLC/Expansions.

I'm ok with them doing the same event, and just spinning it a little differently every year. If you have the achievements then you don't have to do it.

I agree with @Turelus. It's a nice opportunity for me to get achievements on new chars. I'm actually looking forward to doing the New Life Festival activities again, I liked them a lot last year. If we get some new rewards, all the better. :)

Also, considering the release of CWC was just a few days after the Witches Festival started, I can't blame them for probably not having the resources to put overly much work into new stuff for WF this year.
    Kind regards,

I think everyone overestimates how many programmers/devs they actually have working on eso (maintenance + development)
And underestimates how many artists they have available.

Its almost a dead give away if you look at type and quantity of content they churn out.

WoW has been using the same holiday stuff for years now, but they do add more collectibles every year for returning players. I think its a fair compromise.

Way to go on mentioning Runescape, I think you just gave me a nostalgia-gasm. But yeah I agree, that game always had great, varied events back in the day. Apparently Zeni just doesn’t want to devote more time to these though

I appreciated double exp. Agree that same stuff second time is kinda lame, but it is zos. Have you seen holiday furniture - witch cauldron? It is the same as we have already in one of the elf recipes. They also added some branches which I destroyed immediately as I got them and two reskins. So it is not 100% the same, but changes are minimal. But any time when they can give me double exp - I am all for it. I hate halloween and holiday itself can go to hell, but double exp is double exp...

The witches festival was like opening your christmas presents and getting only socks and underwear. When you complain you are told at least some are new colors.

By this rationale they should just recycle everything in case someone missed something the first, second, third time around. BTW, most of the junk could still be bought cheaply in guild traders.

    Welcome to MMO's.

I used another MMO (RuneScape) as an example of a game that does it differently. Honestly, that game does a lot differently from the traditional MMO experience, both in bad ways and good ways. And holidays is one of the good things about the game. It's always something to look forward to because of the new holiday quest which means new puzzles and items to be awarded to you. Plus the holiday characters will remember you every year, making it some sort of a storyline on it's own, sort-of. Those were great and did made the game's holidays much more entertaining. I can think of many Halloween events ideas that we could potentially do in ESO pretty easily, and it doesn't even have to use the Witches Festival holiday. They can even use "Tales and Tallows", which is technically a September holiday but it is basically a Halloween-like holiday. The dead walk that night everywhere at nightfall, people wear masks to avoid being attacked by the dead. That sort of stuff.

There is a lot of room for creativity to make something quite interesting and fun to do for the holidays of Tamriel, and I really do want to see ZOS do something with that, not just recycle the same crap every year, and only add new stuff to the crown store for money.

Whilst we're talking about festivals, ZOS, add a bloody Imperial celebration to the New Life Festival!
