Access Denied / Play Button not working / 1005 MEGA THREAD

I eventually got it to update. I'd had a seemingly endless circle of error 1005/206/210 but following this guide I managed to get it to update using some combination of deleting the patchdata folder, downloading the new launcher, downloading the patchmanifest file and rebooting (I think in that order, but I wasn't keeping note). It was a pain and I don't see why an installer couldn't have done it for me, but it did finally get things going without having to re-download the whole lot, which would've sucked.

I'm doing a fresh install. But I'll be heading to bed so it can download while I sleep. I don't know why Zos compress the game files and have the launcher extract and install to shorten time? I think it is the only game I play that can take up to 7 hours to reinstall. It has been a hour and a half and I am only at 10% >.<

I've had this issue a lot too but it stopped when I installed ESO on a new ssd with huge free disk space left. How much disk space do you have left on your ESO drive?

I had it on a ssd already, I have 310gb of 465gb after installing it again . After I reinstalled it I had no problem at all.

Also on an SSD with hundreds of GB free; formerly on an HDD with the same amount of free space, but I moved it to attempt to stop the run-and-turn stutter that often occurs. It didn't help, but it seems random, and quitting and restarting sometimes fixes it. But I'm now way off-topic, so I'll quit babbling...

Here we go again. Hopefully I can remember what I did last time as I'm back in Error 1005/206/etc hell. It'd be nice if they'd actually fix the updater...

Deleting patchdata, downloading new launcher and manifest and rebooting aren't working this time. Anybody got any other suggestions? I mean other than a repair which will be around 12 hours and usually doesn't work from what I understand.

Running the launcher as admin seems to have finally fixed it for me, but it is seriously messed up.

When I went to reinstall the game. I had to go into safe mode to remove the game so I could reinstall. I haven't tried to log in yet today. I hope it doesn't happen to me again.

Just tried it and yet again. I am wondering if it is because of the ssd. I am putting in a ticket this time and I will not be nice about it at all! This is major [snip]

I added a thread here if you would like to join it. Maybe we can get someone who knows something else to help. Since apparently no one here will do a thing but ignore us. I'm about to just uninstall and never play again. And cancel my plus membership. This is to much of a pain every patch.
