Half truth. It shows that more than half of the players "of the forums" have more than 8 characters.

ESO Forum population (especially the vocal population) and actual population are two completely different things. The average ESO Forum poster appears to be PC and leans more towards PvP, where as the numbers tell you that the population is spread evenly throughout the three platforms and the PvP population is at an all time low.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, don't get what I am saying wrong. However the "feelings" on these forums are OFTEN not shared by the majority of the ESO playerbase.

So that's 32 level 50s. I've also got 10 more characters across those accounts: 5 level 15s, 1 level 20, 3 level 30s, and a level 42 (who will be a level 50 soon enough). The level 15s and the level 20 are all new since the Dragonbones patch.

Out of curiosity, what do you DO with all these characters? Do you play them all regularly, or do you rotate through them? Are some just mules?

None of them are just mules (although on my main account I do need to keep most of them at 170/200 inventory because I'm a hoarder and have trouble forcing myself to decon bound gear), but I don't exactly play them all equally. For the characters on my 2nd and 3rd accounts in particular I can go for a stretch of time without playing them, although the ones on my main account all get played on at least a semi-regular basis.

Basically having that many alts lets me just play whichever one I feel like playing on any given day. It also gives me the option during events like the Dark Brotherhood / Thieves Guild event that we just had to go through and do a whole bunch of dailies. For most of the event I was doing 12-15 sacraments and 12-15 heists each day on 12-15 different characters. Of course, it helps that I really enjoy both sacraments and heists...

I do have hirelings on all of them, as well as on my lowbies, so I have a total of 42 characters getting 204 hireling mails per day (the 6 new characters since the Dragonbones patch don't have provisioning hirelings yet because I haven't taken the time to level their provisioning skills to 28 yet - once I do that it'll be 210 hireling mails per day). I do consumables writs on all of them (consumables writs are self-sustaining when it comes to mats, while equipment writs are not), but not necessarily every day. Probably about half the time.

Another benefit to having a bunch of characters on 2nd and 3rd accounts that I feel a lot of people don't really think about is that I have characters on those accounts sitting on almost every shareable daily quest in the game. If I have a character on my main account who I want to farm Undaunted XP on (as an example) I can run through all 15 Undaunted delve dailies each day ( because I have characters on my other accounts sitting on the dailies.

I have been at 31 now for awhile. I also got a 3rd account but I don't level characters unless I plan to play them everyday for writs. If I level up that 3ed account it will most likely be to only use during anniversary events. Who knows though. Never know if they will add something to the game that I can take advantage of by having more characters

I'm currently at 12. 8 of those are or recently have been actively played, for example having completed over 10 dungeons each.

My other 3 haven't been touched since the last double XP event, but I guess I should use up their pie buffs before Summerset drops, because then I think I'll have them do jewelry writs and so on. One of those is Level 47 and hence will presumably hit 50 within the next 2 hours of play.

Up to 11 now. Anniversary event double XP really helped in that regard. Also discovering that the Cyrodiil dailies gave massive XP, in addition to the Anniversary crates during the event. Even after the event I've still been doing some of them on characters I'm trying to level just for the XP.

I thought I had way too many characters, great to see I am not the only one.

In addition to my dozen L50s on my main account I also have five more on my secondary accounts. 17 seems very small compared to some people here but I do have one toon at L43 and one at L39 who could both be 50s in a day.
