Nvidia Shawdowplay. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/geforce-experience/shadowplay/ I find it easy and also has a keybind to grab the last 5 minutes in the event you were not recording and did something you wanted to grab.

    Yes.

There are streaming apps that record and you do not need to be streaming. Might want to google that or ask some that stream.

EDIT: The other GPU maker may have something similar.

A program I've used for quite some time is Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/). Takes very nice videos and does not seem to have much overhead.

You're all just a bunch of pixels. Turn off the power and you cease to exist.

There is a really easy way......if its win10 just open the game bar and click record.

    Q. How do I use the Game Bar in Windows 10?
    A. Windows 10 includes a new game bar that makes it easy to record clips of games and screenshots. The bar is opened by pressing the Win + G combination and when starting an application that Windows 10 knows is a game will remind you that the game bar can be used as shown.

Once you press Win + G the game bar is displayed that enables you to perform various actions such as screen shot, screen record. There are also settings to auto record and make a certain amount of time always available (for when you do something cool to make sure its captured).

I just Stream my gameplay on Twitch.

If you don't want people interrupting your game play, just ignore the chat box. You aren't forced to answer them. And if you want the most pure recording of your game play, don't use a mic of any sort. That way the only sounds originate from the game itself.

But Twitch also records in HD, so the quality is good, and they can Export a video directly to an associated YouTube channel/account if you so choose, or you can download the video to your PC.

If nothing else, Twitch is pretty hassle free as a game play recording device.

If you're not into Twitch, Microsoft owns a company called Mixer that does all the same basic stuff as Twitch, but without the native support for Exporting a video to YouTube.

You can also use OBS - https://obsproject.com/, which is what a lot of people use for streaming, but you can just use it to record your gameplay.
