Addon that can put waypoint/pin on map that shows for group members and on compass?

Hi, when I play with my friends they often need to go find skyshards I have already collected, so it's difficult for them to show me where we are going because waypoints can't be shared with groupmembers. So I need a suggestion for an addon where you can put a waypoint or pin on the map that shows for group members and on the compass, hope someone can help me, thank you.
PS. it's perfectly fine if the addon must be installed for all group members.

I remember early on pc in cyrodiil there was a way to do it... like a little red flare. I had no addons back then either...

Why don't you just use shift+F or ctrl+F?

Shift+left click should set a waypoint that your group can see on the map. I can't remember if it shows on the compass on top of screen though.

Shift-F just makes a normal waypoint that is not visible for other group members. How is Shift-F supposed to be different from just setting a waypoint with F?

Ctrl-F and Ctrl-Leftclick just makes a group ping, that does get notified on all group members map, however it is very temporary, only lasting a few seconds. Until further this is the best (or least worst) solution since it is not exclusive to the group leader but can also be used by individual party members.

Shift-Left click click sets a "group rally point" permanent ping signal, but unfortunately it only works when the group leader sets it. Individual group members using this will have no effect on other members maps.

From your answers, for which I am grateful, and from my testing it would seem that vanilla ESO cannot provide the functionality I want. Thus, I am still looking for an addon that can simply enable setting a permanent waypoint that other group members can see.

In addition to Shift+Click which sets the "group rally point", every player can do Ctrl+Click which sets a "map ping". That ping can be seen by all players and disappears after a few seconds. It should be on the compass too.

If you need a permanent map ping, you can use a workaround: Look at the map while your group member pings, and set your own waypoint there using F.

disappears after a few seconds is the problem here. I need it to be permanent (until removed manually). However until I find an addon that can do this, this is the best (or least worst) solution I can use.

Unless I'm mistaken such an addon would require to upload 'addon information' from your client to the ESO server for your teammates to download again. I have a sneaking suspicion such a system is not possible.

Update: Today I learned a thing.

Might suit what you need. Unfortunately all group members need to download it, and it doesn't appear on the compass.

Haven't tested this myself, but it does sync up waypoints.

Hmm, addons can send map pings in an automated way. This is used e.g. for "group DPS share", "group ulti status" and other similar addons, since a few bytes of data can be sent with each ping ("libgroupsocket" is a semi-standardized way for addons to send data to other players).

So it might be possible for an addon to pick up on your locally set waypoint (I suppose addons have access to that), and repeatedly send that out as a map ping until turned off. This should not trigger "abuse" detection mechanisms either, since the existing libgroupsocket-based addons have been making intensive use of high-frequency map pings for a while.

Thank you, well I see now that I forgot to mention that it is no problem that all group members need the addon installed. Too bad about the compass, because this means that we still need to open the map to check where the waypoint is. So unfortunately not quite good enough (still quite useful though).
