Hollowjack Spectres: The Monsters Underneath the Masks

Dear Adventurer,

I bring you this message to warn you. Something strange is happening right now across Tamriel. The nights feel long traveler, and the denizens of Tamriel parade through the cities in horrific splendor! I do not know what to make of this, though I feel myself growing stronger much faster than usual. This seems to happen for a period of time after blowing a whistle I received from a witchmother. This buff has consumed me and I feel myself becoming lifeless, a thrall. I need to warn you before it is too late...

You may have noticed that the stronger enemies of Tamriel drop extra treasures for you. These "Plunder Skulls" as the other adventurers have started calling them, contain spectacular and gross rewards. Guts, worms, recipes involving brains and eyeballs are things you will commonly find in these containers. My stomach turns thinking about reaching into these skulls and pulling out all manner of death and decay. But I've heard of lucky adventurers who find great treasure in these skulls! Yes, great treats... or maybe a great trick?

If you're lucky enough, you might find such an item in your plunder skulls. I'm of course talking about the Hollowjack Spectre mask. Becoming a Hollowjack Spectre might look like the coolest thing in Tamriel right now, but these poor souls are unaware of the curse laid upon them. My warning to you adventurer is that wearing this mask twists and deforms the face underneath it. But you do not have to worry traveler, this change to your appearance is not permanent...or is it? It is said that the longer one wears a Hollowjack Spectre mask, the more likely their face will begin to twist and turn...until the mask is no longer a mask...

Proceed with caution adventurer, things are not always as they appear...
