This limit needs to be lifted, even if only for events. Every dolmen is crammed, my low level warden rarely gets anything, yet that is the character I'm wanting to level up in this event. Why is this limit still in place? Why is there a limit at all?

    I would hit up a delve instead of dolmen runs. Way less people will be at any one delve.

    They need to lift this all the time, not just for festivals. It's not fun when you're in a group of 24 and you know right off the bat 12 people will not be getting loot.

    Oh well, I guess I won't be doing the event on my tank.

    Go to a different zone. Some zones you almost always have to solo Dolmens. Try Grahtwood.

    So I am really high lvl, and when there is more than one person, I just use basic heavy stave att to do damage so that the other person also gets loot. I have had several people come through, and run as fast as they can, ahead, to the next boss(public dungeon), and do max dmg....leaving everyone else standing there with nothing but xp and 16 coins. I'm not sure if they think this is necessary, or if they are just being jerks. Usually, I just repay the favor a few times, and they go on and we can get back to making sure everyone gets loot........but if this is you....stop it. It's not necessary for one person to do 99% of the dmg for you to also get loot. All you do is leave other players with nothing.

    This. Some dolmens are so crowded that I don't even get a hit on the final boss before he's dead. I try to find less crowded ones or just do delves. There are plenty of those my lower level characters havn't been through yet.

    If you are trying to quickly level, you might consider the running the sewers in a dead campaign with a few friends.
    But, if you want plunder skulls, you might want to consider doing delves, public dungeons, or group dungeons.

    Normal Maelstrom is also a viable way to get those skulls. Its pretty easy and most importantly its instanced so no one can steal your loot.
    However, I agree that "top 12 dds" limit should be adjusted. :(

    If the limit is 12 people, don't run with more than 12.

    It can't be much fun if you are killing npcs with such a large number of people.

    oh really there is a limit??. I can't do dolemn runs because the dolemn goes down before it even loads.. I have to run in and spam some buffs and heals because nothing spawns for me.

    Only Dolmens I've had any problems with getting skulls at are the Dolmens in Alik'r. Too many people at the best of times though.

    This hasn't been the case for over a year.

    The threshold is 3% of the mobs HP when it comes to DPS.

    Or make the skulls not fall under the loot table. Still have the 3 min timer on them, but if you damage the boss you still get the skull even if you didn't do enough damage to earn loot.

    It isn’t to bad. Even those with lag or slow poppin can do it. It just requires a little planning.

    1. Load up as many ground aoe as you can muster. I usually have 2-3 just depending on the class.

    2. Wait for Mister braggy to start trash talking.

    3. Apply ground aoe to the boss load spot. The closer you can get to when they drop the better. But it can be tricky with lag, and the different speeches he gives. Just aim to have 3-4 seconds of ground aoe goodness left when the boss comes down.

    4. Have a good aoe or non targeted dps ability ready to go so you can spam it without having to have a target. So you don’t have to wait for your game to catch up.

    5. Skull time!

    This obviously won’t work for lower levels who might not have enough ground aoes or decent enough gear to do damage. But with scaling even a decent set of blue gear should do I would think.

    At one crowded dolmen, I was getting skulls only maybe 40% of the time on a baby nightblade I'm leveling up. I changed to a different location that wasn't so crowded, and was suddenly getting skulls 100% of the time. It pays for people to spread out.

    I also got a bunch doing public dungeons. It's a win-win for a sub-50 character ... double XP, a skill point, a sky shard, and they get to clear the dungeon when it's easiest because of all the people.

    You need to lay all your ground aoes out before the boss has spawned, so that you're ticking damage immediately. Save ultimate if you need to for it also.

    Hell, I've played plenty of dolmens where the boss was dead before they fully materialized, and their health bar was never actually "full".

    Go to places with less players then. Its there to stop people standing on the sidelines doing nothing but tagging with light attacks but still getting loot and exp.

    Aoe and ultimate. With a fight that only lasts 5-10 seconds, that is your only chance to get some damage in.
    Or indeed, go do delves. Way less people there, and with a little patience, very good turn out!

    I ran into this case yesterday with a Level 14 character. I was at a Dolmen with about 5 other people and things were going good. Eventually, the "circuit" arrived. These are the people who run from Dolmen to Dolmen via wayshrine trying to get there before the boss drops. When the anchor dropped, there were just a handful of us there. By the time the boss dropped, there were probably 30 people there. Thirty seconds after the anchor was released, there were 5 people there. This scenario repeats every 5 minutes.

    ZOS has some odd ideas about group play for a studio that wants to encourage group play. My feeling is that they need to "iterate" on how dark anchors distribute loot and XP a little more. They need to be less restrictive on how they award loot and XP in group situations. They need to stop penalizing people for being in a group, while trying to encourage people to group up. (Those two people in the studio need to be locked in a conference room until they agree, or only one comes out. :smiley: )

    Another thing they could do is make the timers variable so that they don't drop on a schedule. As a matter of fact, given how ZOS likes RNG, they should be fine doing this with all spawn timers. This would help discourage running from one to the next like a city bus on a schedule, the goal being to better balance the game between the people who tour and those who just stand there.

    EVERY Dolmen? Or just the ones think you know are easiest to farm? I hit the same problem myself, The Dolmen rotations in Deshaan, Auridon, Alik'r etc are jam packed cause everyone knows the farms there are simple. So I went to Eastmarch and The Rift. Much less people.

    Go to a dolmen that is far away from any wayshrine... the ones near the wayshrines are the ones that the zerg infests... I see you Alikr and Auridon wayshrines...
