Contested PvP Areas

Anyone else hoping that ESO adds contested areas to the map in the future?

By that, I mean areas that have PvP enabled between factions. I.E. I'm EP and see a DC farming goats for some lame quest, I come up behind and shove my knife up his recto.

Anyone who's played WoW would know what I'm talking about. I think areas like this would make the game a lot more interesting and fun.

For people who are scared of PvP and gankers, tough sandwich. Avoid this thread and idea at all costs.

For everyone else, just simply say "yes."

There is already a contested PvP area. It is called Cryodiil.

I think this game could use more smaller areas that don't involve castle sieges. Just straight questing and PvP.

If their was a karma system where for each kill you became more notorious to the point where anyone and everyone including city guards can and would attack you on sight then OK.

However ESO is a game designed for Snowflakes. Even the PVE has been reduced to easy mode. To even reconsider the implementation of a PVP component into PVE land would make the little snow flakes flutter screaming to mummy.

This would be pretty cool. Honestly lots of cool possibilities could come with contested areas.

Another idea I have would be a tel-var kind of system like in IC, where you drop currency for that specific area if you get killed by another player. Vendors in this area would also sell lots of cool things (like I don't know, maybe skooma).

If you want a place where PVP and PVE intersect on a regular basis, try the busier campaigns and go to the Imperial City. The Imperial City DLC was literally designed for close quarters PVP in a PVE area with quick respawn times that let you get back to the fight. On the busier campaigns, you might even have a decent population of people to hunt.

Other areas where PVE and PVP collide: The towns in Cyrodiil often have PVE quests associated with them. Cheydinhal, Chorrol, Bruma, Cropsford, and Vlastarus all have a series of about 12 daily quests. While some of those towns are definitely off the beaten path, you could lie in wait and gank unsuspecting PVEers who just want to quest. Or you'll get trampled by the organized raids who just want the flags in Bruma, thanks very much. Or you'll wait for hours and not see a single player.

Now, as for this idea that we should bring PVP into the zones that aren't designed for it and inflict PVP on people who never signed up for by entering a campaign...no. There's a reason why ZOS made an auto-decline option for dueling, there's a reason why ZOS did not implement their planned PVP addition to the justice system... and its that they couldn't implement it in a way that would prevent griefing and they understand that some, perhaps even most, players don't want to be randomly, suddenly surprised with PVP in the middle of their PVE activities.

In short, get thee to the areas that are already designed for the very thing you ask for. And if you wonder why those areas are so empty, reflect on the idea that perhaps the average player does not enjoy being ganked as much as you enjoy ganking.

gankers in pve zones sounds as great as a pve-version of cyrodiil and ic. both wont happen.

I appreciate what everyone saying about Cyro, but also get the point the OP is making.

It's an MMORPG, yet most of the people you see you can't interact with. People in towns all just running past each other and porting out is hardly social.

Imagine being in Mournhold and suddenly a group of AD attack it would be kinda cool.

OneT has ruined the lore and vibe a fair amount. At least Cadwells silver / gold had an albeit poor reason, but a reason none the less why you could enter another faction. Now its pretty confusing.

Maybe they change the Guild trader rebid system to include combat lol (im not serious) good rush to kill the trader, defend it long enough to hold it for the week haha

Well, if you want anti-social...back when I was doing Cadwell's Silver before One Tamriel, capital cities were empty. Dead. Maybe one or two players in Elden Root and Stormhaven. Mournhold was busy, bustling, a thriving hub of commerce and Undaunted dungeon calls, and WTBs and WTSs and general zone chatter. Elden Root and Stormhaven? Dead silent.

Why? Because I was in Cadwell's Silver and Gold zones with all the EP faction players who were also VR 1-7 and VR 8-15. There weren't enough of us to make the capital cities, much less the other zones, feel busy.

Now the zones and major cities actually feel alive. And if you don't feel like you can interact with people, just start talking in zone chat. Or spam duel requests.
