not really a hardware reason?
Thanks for helping me to understand my console brothers and sisters. (I am a PC user). While on the subject of consoles, do you think Nintendo Switch can run ESO if ZOS ever go that route. I mean if it plays Skyrim, which is a much heavier game than ESO is, why it can just play ESO?
Addons would have a major advantage too

I understand why there is no cross platform between the PC and the consoles. However, why is there no cross platform between Xbox1 and PS4? The hardware is almost the same and both use similar controllers.

I would not want to play cross platform with PC because they use add-ons that are pretty much cheats. PS4 I wouldn't mind, but not PC.
Of late, it was not an option then ESO for consoles was under development.
Not really valid... several crossplaying games have released of late. Does't change that this wouldn't work for ESO for a plethora of other reasons.
It's due to pretty much what @theamazingx said.not really a hardware reason?
not really a hardware reason?

Part of the reason there is no cross platform play is because of that. Other than that its politics, money, lots of extra coding and server issues with no real monetary incentive for the companies.
