When to start a Tank build?

I'm a Lvl50 60CP Nord DragonKnight. I'm using a two-handed sword at the moment with a DPS build.

Now, I know that Tank builds aren't the best builds for leveling up, so I kept going on with my DPS until at least I reached LVL50.

Is this a good time to start working on a Tank build?

Keep in mind that besides going on Dungeons I like to do the World PvE as well!

Thanks for your input!

When you hit CP160 . That's when you get max level items which is what a tank needs to function properly . Because the sets you will be wearing are for group support and wearing them at low level does no good . Get to CP160 , get tank items and start tanking . You can just switch items for DPS if you want to for Overland (World) PvE .

You can tank at whatever level you want.

Below CP 160, I would recommend sticking with Normal Dungeons and crafted gear. Hist Bark is good, my personal favorite from my early tanking days was Whitestrake's Retribution. Doing normal dungeons will give you a chance to learn the dungeons and your tanking style. Don't worry about being low CP, you'll be running dungeons with everyone from level 10s to cp660. Anyone too elite to let a cp60 tank for them in a normal dungeon is a strange bird indeed.

Basic tanking: hold aggro on the boss and don't die
Good tanking: hold aggro on the boss, don't die, hold the boss still in the group aoes, debuff the boss, buff the group, and crowd control the adds (bunching them up or chaining them in)

At CP160, start working toward whatever tanking gear you want to wear. There are a lot of options that vary based on your tanking style. Trials tanks tend to run very specific gear sets, but for normal and veteran dungeons there are a lot of tank sets you can wear depending on how you like to tank. For veteran dungeons you will want higher physical and spell resistances (the cap is somewhere between 31-33k).
    Set Ideas:
High Ultimate Regen: Tava's Blessing (getting nerfed), Bloodspawn monster set, Akaviri Dragonguard
High Health: Plague Doctor, Green Pact, Ebon Armory
Resistances: Pariah, etc, Lord Warden monster set, Chudan monster set.

For myself, I run Ebon Armory and either Knightmare or Worm's Raiment. Ebon Armory drops from the Crypt of Hearts dungeons and gives the members of my group a small health bonus in addition to lots of health for me. 1k extra health isn't a lot for me, but it means a lot to the squishy DPS. Knightmare gives enemies minor maim so they do less damage, dropping from Spindleclutch. Worm's Raiment is another group support set from Vaults of Madness reducing magicka costs that I run when I'm too lazy to change out of my PVP gear.

Once you've got your preferred tanking gear and know your style, try out the vet dungeons. Tanking in a vet dungeon is interesting the first few times. There's a lot of mechanics that you can ignore or take a hit on normal difficulty that will one-shot you in Vet and if there's even a little lag things can get hairy. Practice helps.

Overworld PVE tanking: If you want to tank overland content, I'd suggest joining world boss groups. Bangkorai, Rivenspire, Craglorn, Wrothgar, and Vvardenfell all usually have active world boss groups and you can get pretty nifty awards for completing those.

Hope this helps! I'm always glad to see another tank.

I would start now. More tanks in queue is always a better thing.
