Still need a new class

I know there will be some hate on this, but even with the addition of the lackluster warden, I feel like we still need a new class. Too many if the "builds" are too similar, and most mmos that are 3 years in have more than 5 classes. We need a good new fun playstyle.

The main issue with the “only 5 classes” thing is that it’s really 10. Magsorc vs stamsorc, magdk vs stamdk, etc, they’re effectively completely different classes in playstyle, strengths/weaknesses, skills, gear, everything.

Well yeah I think there should be around 8 classes to choose from. I hope thats the case in future.

If not, then I hope they add a skill or two to every class and other skill lines

I would dig an extra ability or two in each of the weapon skills, 5 weapon skills just doesnt feel like enough variety. Adding ults to the weapons was great, but I want more.

not really...maybe 6 since all stam classes play the same....

instead of a class of course they could release more skill lines for everyone

Although many skills overlap, this is not true.

Btw, ESO is not the game about classes (as another mmos). There is flexible system of character development. Another class skill lines (read classes) will not change the game much (as it was with wardens) because existing classes haven't access to them. But adding new (common) skill lines affects everyone, so it's more valuable in this concept.
    Everything is viable

Would like to see the development of sub classes and new skill lines associated to them. One of the primary problems with class design is they took aspects from multiple Elderscrolls classes and rolled them into one class, just as they did with types of magic. If they added sub classes we could have a much larger variety in classes available without the introduction of totally new classes. Could give them an opportunity for introducing new Magicka types too.

Yep, classes, skills and weapons to fill gaps. Balance will never happen, which is generally ok as long as its not game breaking. The game will always evolve and people will have to accept that not every class will best. Take warden, maybe not best for vet trials but perfectly fine in dungeon, quests and pvp. Of course some buffs and nerfs would need to happen woth new classes but people would need to seperate themselves from the toon.

So why try to balance 2h for pve for aoe when you could introduce polearms? Why have sets for buffing or defending channels when channels are generally lacking? 2h wands or war hammer, hand to hand could fill this area.

Stam and regen is a problem? A bard could fit that area. Stam and mag is out of control. A necromancer that hits resources.

I believe you are most certainly mistaken. There are, in fact, quite a few who practice necromancy in Tamriel. Though it is most certainly frowned upon. You need only look no further than the main quest line.

Loving the comments. Necromancers are definitely possible considering Mannimarco is one, but it's practically a crime to practice this magic. I agree with what everyone is saying that new skill lines would probably bring the most new builds in a game like this.

Instead of new classes I think it might be more interesting if they allowed you choose a second class to attach to your main class (sort of like sub jobs from Final Fantasy XI).

That's always been an interesting system and allows for some fun combinations.

In my experience, a Stam DK plays very differently from a Stam Sorc, and both of those play very differently from a Stamblade. Sure, they all use the weapon skills, but their class abilities allow them to play very differently from each other.

Huh? My stam NB (Bow/2H) is built for solo stealth burst in Cyrodiil. My stam templar (1H+S/2H) is built for zerg vs. zerg. Both require radically different skill/weapon setups and feel very different. If I had a stam DK for PVE tanking, it would feel very different as well. Same goes for stamina PVE DPS. If all you do is PVE DPS, then sure, I guess stamina builds all feel more or less the same, as they generally (but not always) call for DW/Bow.

We have a good mix of classes at the moment, IMO, and probably didn't even need the Warden. If all you do is PVE DPS and are tired of the lack of variety you see there, give PVP a try.

    A shepherd class would be awesome;

    Imagine skills like;

Cattle Dogs - A CC that herds Mobs together and delivers a deafening howl AoE.
Bovine Trample - Summons a herd of cows to trample foes
Shepherds Crook- Yanks a Mob towards you so you can deliver a killing blow with your infused stew pot.
Sheep Form - who would suspect that sheep of being a deadly killer?
Wolfs Bane - A passive ability, allowing the shepherd to doe double damage to wolves.
Det-Ox - Send an exploding Ox into enemy ranks.

Ought to give the weapons 3 lines, same as classes. Something on the order of Sweeps, Stabs, and Slashes (AOE, Burst, and DOT). Not sure how to fit bow into that - only so many ways to shoot an arrow, but the same damage types apply.

We need a new class? Only for tweak builds. While I know that having a good setup for grouping is only common sense and common courtesy, doing so effectively limits what choices you have. When soloing I like to use fun setups that are somewhat effective and unique.

I have started going over all my current toons and making setups with all the armor sets out there. Currently, I am planning on gathering pieces of an armor set that creates a mini volcano underneath your opponent. So many different armor pieces, so many different combinations so many different spells and skills. This is why I keep coming back to ESO.

As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

    Wrong.
We don't need another class to force us to make characters fifteen and sixteen, and play them through all the content we already did fourteen times...

    True.
We may not need a new class... but we DO need a new something to diversfy ALL characters.
Ideally something like that Class Morph Idea I keep occasionally mentioning, something to diversitfy all characters, that can be refitted to any, no matter if newly made or played since launch, something that includes a -choice- to make characters different in build rather then just more of the same - adding a fourth class skill line from three options per class like my suggestion would be a good way to go about this.

Wrong. The lore is supporting them just right... only, they are generally antagonists throughout the game. But then, so are imperials, and we can still play them... also, there are at least some necromancers who do not kowtow to mannimarco... and also, any character who played through the main story HAS engaged in necromancy at least -once- during the rescue of Abner Tharn, remember? ;)

Agreed, adding additional Weapon Skills for each and every character to learn would also be a very good thing to expand character diversity and give us horizontal progression options (learning more options instead of gaining more power).
    Demycilian wrote: »

That may not be enough for a whole class... but it would totally be just the right thing for a new guild!
So, yes, yet another great option for character diversification might be adding more DLC Guild options... but making some of them mutually exclusive. Like... a character can be member of the dark brotherhood and kill people, or a member of the bardic guild and do a lot of music and charming social interaction play, but not both... or a character can be a member of a criminal "guild", or a deputy member of some enfoircer guild, bot not both... et cetera...

Optimally, all of the above, of course. Just imagine of how more interesting the game would become if we had class morphs, and more weapon options, and mutually exclusive guild choices...

I agreed mostly with your comment except this. I think many people (certainly me) enjoy playing a variety of different classes, even if it's redoing content. I find it a different experience and enjoy the diversity.
