Surprise Attack

I snuck behind a quest mob and did "Surprise Attack" almost by mistake.

Lo behold

Sneak + Surprise = one shot :) !!!

I never knew Surprise Attack is so powerful and I have been playing Stam NB for like 4 months..lol

The above is my set up.

I run a 2H/2H setup (NMEmbrace/Night Silence) and it is pretty good.

Are there any gear sets/spells changes that I can make which will further improve the damage of Surprise Attack ?

You might want to check out flanking gear from the Dark Brotherhood DLC.

If you are into sneaking you can also try Clever Alchemist with Night Mother's Embrace, nice temp boost and it fits the way I usually move around, instead of SA, I tend to heavy attack (because of the passive in CP that makes you invisible after killing a target with Heavy Attack).

Problem is in PvP they spam this after about the 3rd hit it's not a surprise

You could have more sneak speed with Concealed Weapon slotted and vampire passive, while having the same instant kill effect with sneak+behind+ambush. And it's ranged. Very powerful. Very handy.

    My sets medium purple:
    3 pcs. Night Terror
5 pcs. Night Mother's Embrace Set
    2 pcs. Kra'gh Monster
DW daggers sharpened golden for extra crit.

Only average stats, around 32k stamina and 19k health but can one-shot kill from stealth in pve, always critical and max damage around 36k on single mob. Build for assassinations and thievery and great for both, especially heists and sacraments :).
PS. both sets cheap and easy obtainable from guild traders or farming, maybe Night Terror in divines not easy (quite rare in traders).

Pickpocketing with this build, cannot see me :)

Try next time with onslaught (berserking strike? 2h ulti), if you got good build it can easily hit for 80k+ in pve. Why do some skills 1 shot mobs from stealth? Because of most of physical melee skills get insane damage buff while in stealth and hitting non player entity.

Flanking doesn't work... You have to stand at 1 small exact point in a circle, doesn't really work

Weapon damage glyphs on jewelry will help a lot.

Flawless Dawnbreaker and perhaps another fighters guild skill like rearming trap could be placed on your surprise attack bar, they would passively boost weapon damage a lot.

Have you tried a 2-H heavy attack yet? Hitting a small group of mobs while stealthed with one heavy attack can be extremely nasty...in the current version of the game. The trick with heavy attacking is stacking weapon damage very high.

Rather than Nightmother's embrace, a set like Automaton or Spriggan could boost surprise attack or heavy attacks. As long as you have all medium armor, it's not too hard to sneak up from the back or side. Hunding's Rage + Automaton would be near the highest possible heavy attack from stealth, but it's only fun to drop Night's Silence if you're a vampire with the extra passive sneak speed.
